“Classic steak house”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed July 22, 2013

The Knickerbocker is a classic steak house - is it the newest, hippest, most innovative restaurant in the City? No. But that's not why you go there. Great steak, great Martinis, and and old-time atmosphere are there for the taking. You'll definitely eat more than you want - you just can't stop yourself because the meat and the sides are just addictive.

“Tired. Old. Bad Service.”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed July 16, 2013

The best thing about this restaurant (other than the company) was the martini. They mix a mean drink. The rest of the experience was down hill. The atmosphere was sort of depressing - like we were in a place that had passed its prime long ago. The service was so bad. The waitress greeted us upon seating and then we didn't see her for - literally - 30 minutes. The food (I ordered a steak) was just okay. I felt like with all the restaurants in NYC, this was a missed opportunity.

“Good Neighborhood Joint”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed June 28, 2013

I am addicted to their meatloaf and mashed potatoes with beet gravy. No complaints about the size of the helpings--they are huge-- and they mix a good drink. There is a reason why you always see a few old Village ladies sitting alone tucking into a mound of food--it is really delicious. The steaks are very good, perhaps just a notch down from Strip House or Luger's, but much, much cheaper. One of those old time places that just keeps putting out what they do best with no pretension or fanfare. It will probably be there another fifty years chugging along through all the passing NYC foodie trends. Huge selection and very decently priced. Neighborhood gem.

“Still Does Not Disappoint!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed June 23, 2013

We moved away from NYC 12 years ago and this was the last restaurant we visited. This was our first trip back to NYC together since that time and we went here for dinner. This is a great neighborhood restaurant that still has it all together and still does not disappoint. Shared the T-Bone. Delicious! Glad we returned!

“Great steaks in the village”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed June 21, 2013 via mobile

I've been often disappointed by restaurants in manhattan, but this was definitely not the case this time. We had t bone steaks which were outstanding and the place has a good selection of draught beers. What more could u want. It is a large busy restaurant but is not noisy
