“Very good Italian sandwich....”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed June 18, 2012

I had a very nice Italian sandwich on ciabatta bread. Lots of meats and toppings. There are dozens of sandwiches, soups, and salds to choose from. The service was good and the place was clean. I got a large sandwich, a bag of chips, and a soda for around $10. I would go back for sure.

“Fast and delicious”

I can't figure out how they prepared that bagel and lox so fast. I barely paid and it was ready. Excellent coffee too. Good price for the money

“Lenny's Downtown: Where's The Beef?”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed April 23, 2012

I normally don't review lunch / sandwich shops but I felt compelled to write about Lenny's Downtown here in Lower Manhattan on John Street. Lenny's established itself as the new, fresh and decent sandwich chain in NYC about ten years ago and, while they still deliver a decent sandwich, we have all noticed that there is less meat and cheese on the sandwiches than there used to be. They also do little things like charge $0.25 to toast your bread (seriously?) and invariably, on our orders of 15 or so sandwiches, something is wrong or an order is left out completely. While we expect a mistake here and there, these guys have been doing this on every order for the last couple of months.
Still, they make a 'fair' sammich at a fair price, but they seem to be going downhill. Yet they pay rent and pay taxes, unlike thestreet vendors, so we support them. Just don't expect anything even remotely overstuffed in your Lenny's sandwich, and don't be too upset when you don't get what you ordered, either.

“Best sandwiches on Upper West Side...”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed March 27, 2012

This chain never fails to deliver. Great sandwiches and salads. Delivery service, fresh food, plenty of options on the menu. I use the 2nd Avenue and 54th streets also. Have delivery at least once a week to my office. Highly recommended.

“Good deli, but not your normal sit down deli...”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed March 17, 2012

A very small place, more geared for takeout than eating in. There is a small area to eat in towards the back. As you walk into the narrow storefront, you have to walk almost halfway down a narrow aisle to place your order. Once you order, you work your way to the front of the store to pay for your sandwich/salad, and then order any extras (drink, chips, etc). After you pay, and you plan to eat in, you fight your way towards the back like a salmon swimming upstream and sit at small cafeteria type tables. There, you'll go to some shelves to pick out your chips, and get your drink from a cooler. After a few minutes, someone will bring your sandwiches and then the feast begins. The sandwiches we got were excellent and very tasty, so it was almost like a reward for the confusion of ordering and getting seated. I suppose if you're a local, this is no big deal, but for us "rednecks", it was a bit different......not difficult, but different. All things considered, I'd order for takeout, and go eat at the park.
