Made a reservation in early November for 10 guests for 7:30pm Thursday November 23. As we were a large group and the restaurant is small I went to the restaurant to confirm all 10 for 7:30 and was told great see you then. Some of our guests arrived early at 7:05 and were told reservation was at 7:30 and noticed our table was ready on the left side of the restaurant. Once all 10 people had gathered we arrived back at the restaurant at 7:25 only to be told sorry you have to wait we had walk-ins come in before you so we gave away your tables you can just wait outside and we will seat you when they leave. Not how you get & keep Customers!!!!

The barkers fighting for your business as you walk up the steps (go to the LEFT!), the red lights, the cramped seating, the happy birthday tune, the food - sometimes really tasty, sometimes completely bland....this is great place to visit now and again. No booze though. Indian beer can be purchased in the shop directly below the restaurant.

The food is out of this world and so reasonably priced. The place is over decorated which adds to the fun ambiance. It's a tight squeeze so the claustrophobic may be a bit challenged. However the food is well worth the cozy seating. You can bring in your own bottle of wine. The waiter will uncork it and serve it with no corking fee. A must try!

My girlfriend and I stopped here on a Sunday night for dinner. It is very small, and a bit cramped, but fortunately for us, there weren't a lot of people to contend with for space. The place has great atmosphere, and it's a lot of fun. The food was excellent. We had the piazi (veggie fritters), mulligatawny soup, and a vegetable entree with a mild cream sauce, paratha, and mango ice cream. We opted for their vegetarian special for two, which included everything for $20 for both of us. You can't beat that! The only downside is that both people have to get the same thing, but that wasn't a problem for us. The service was very quick, and attentive. It's BYOB for anyone who might like to have a glass of wine with their meal. I would say it's better suited for couples, or small groups of 4 or less.

I thought it was interesting that there is another similar restaurant right next door, and yet another downstairs. I'm not sure if they're somehow affiliated or not. When we approached, an employee from the one downstairs tried to persuade us to come to that restaurant so we could sit in their outdoor garden. We opted for Panna II, since we had been wanting to try it for a while now. But just so you know, if you happen to go, and it's crowded, there are other options, literally next door.

This is definitely a fun, unique place to grab an inexpensive Indian meal in the east village.
