Description: Our highly anticipated second Rosa Mexicano location opened in July 2000. Just steps away from Lincoln Center, this impressive David Rockwell-designed space features a 30-foot iridescent blue tile water wall that spans both levels of the restaurant and is adorned with 240 miniature cliff divers. Here you’ll also find a dramatic “floating” staircase made of orange and red terrazzo slabs and backlit panels behind the bar embedded with rose petals. Awarded “Best Restaurant 2000” by Interiors Magazine, this unique, contemporary look ushered in a new era for us at Rosa Mexicano.

“On my short list to visit!”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed March 29, 2013

I have had this restaurant on my short list to try out when in the city. Finally made it this week! I really enjoyed the sangria! It came in a little pitcher and it was about 2.5 glasses which made the $12 price tag not too bad. We tried the table prepared guacamole which was very good as well. I had the tacos which are more like a fajita since you make it yourself. The food was very good. This is not your typical Mexican restaurant (think chain) since the portions are just right! If you are thinking of the quantities given at the chain Mexican places you should skip here. I am glad I got to try this place out and would recommend it to those in the Lincoln Center area.

“Wonderful all around”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed March 22, 2013

Went here for lunch. Got the guacamole which they made fresh at your table. The food was delicious. Servers were very attentive and the manager came by the table to see how lunch was for us. Not cheap, if I remember the guac was $14. I would go back and try something new.

“Great spin on Mexican food”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed March 18, 2013

My favorite dish is the Chicken Tortilla pie. This is a beautiful restaurant with great margaritas and table made guacamole. The salsas are fantastic and can be ordered to go. I try to dine at this restaurant every time I am in NYC.

“Average quality, pricey food (and not really Mexican)”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed March 15, 2013

Rosa Mexicana is not recommended, unless you are just desperate for fresh guacamole.

In Texas, we know and appreciate good Mexican Food, or all styles; but that's not what we were offered here. Before you go inside, look over the Menu posted outside very carefully. The prices are high for the smallish portions of ordinary-tasting food we were served. Our waiter was fine; no complaints there.

If you do go inside, ask to be seated Upstairs. The Downstairs dining areas are so dark you can't read the Menu and so noisy you can't enjoy chatting with your own party. And at all costs, do not sit in the Downstairs booths near the silly wall of water, where you will get splashed and dripped upon.

Our meal at Rosa Mexicana was disappointing overall. And you won't see us here again. Manhattan has too many other eating places to waste any time here.

“Great nouveau mexicano!”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed March 14, 2013

Went here at 4:00 PM before a 6:00 PM curtain call at The Met. Had a wonderful leg of duck. Perfectly cooked and seasoned. Light sauce. Service was attentive, but not hurried.
