We purchased a "GET IT NOW GROUPON" for Sambuca Cafe while in New York City. For only $10, we received $20 of fare. We had never been to Sambuca, and were impressed with the small, intimate setting. It was a warm afternoon, so instead of sitting inside, which was not well air conditioned, we sat outside on the sidewalk. I tried to use their FREE WIFI, but could not get on. This was not something I expected to use, but the cafe advertised it, so I wanted to use it. No luck. As far as the meal, we paid $30 for our lunch, including tip. We each had a sandwich, and something to drink. I drank water, and my husband had a coke. Both glasses were small, and needed refilling more than once, when we could find the waitress. We were shocked to discover that his coke was $2.50, with each refill also $2.50. Our sandwiches were fair, and made us yearn for our New York Deli in Palm Harbor, FL, with heaping meat. We left a minimal tip - 10% - due to the triple charge for soda, and I explained this to our waitress. Had she told us about the refill charge, she would have received an additional $5 tip, and my husband would have had water, instead of refills. The cost of his drink was equal to the cost for a sandwich! For what we paid, we were disappointed with our adventure, and thankful that with Groupon it only cost us a total of $20, not $30.

Stopped here for afternoon drinks a few times whilst wandering Little Italy and Chinatown. Good place to sit outside right on the street and people-watch. Relaxed atmosphere with a friendly service, fairly basic and slightly pricey menu. A no-frills place to relax and watch the world go by.

lunch on a Thursday--the panini was a paper thin slice of turkey, paper thin slice of cheese between two thin pieces of tasteless bread; no refills on beverages; the dessert canoli was only fair. Would never go there again.

After a great holiday in New York on the last day we wandered past the Sambuca Cafe and decided to stop for a cake and coffee and use of the high speed free internet.

The coffee and cake were average the price however was any but average......$29 for 2 cakes and coffees with a pretty surly service to sit in a very small road side cafe. Maybe we should have asked the price as there were not any ,but as the rest of the New York trip had been great value with good service and food all round.

If you want good value....avoid, oh and the free wifi didnt work !
