I've been going to this restaurant since the late 80's. I've lived in brooklyn and since moved to staten island. When we want Chinese we head into Manhattan. All of the noodles are made fresh here. The scallion cakes are an appetizer must as is the steamed edamame. Chow fun is the best and so is the lo mien. General tsos chicken is also a keeper. In addition, the spicey shredded beef is a good choice plus don't forget to order a nice cold Chinese brew! Remember, after eating there nothing else will compare. The price is always right and clean also. On 6th ave. off off 11th street.
Enjoy!

This is a place where if you want a fast meal you can order and eat under an hour. The selections are great, the food always comes out hot. So many favorites, like the moo shoo vegetables and Vegetable dumplings. Service is fast, but the place can be a little cleaner.

I've been eating lunch at Sammy's almost weekly for years. Is it fabulous, exotic, mind-blowing? No, no, and no. Sammy's is a consistently good restaurant with super-fast service, some of the best prices in an increasingly insanely priced restaurant area, and, if you leave hungry, you have a serious problem. Also, you will never wait more than a nanosecond for a table once you've stepped inside the door.

Two people can dine-in at Sammy's for less than half the price of similar meal in many other neighborhood restaurants. It's also a great place to go if you're dining alone. You won't feel self-conscious because many single diners go to Sammy's for lunch and dinner.

The lo mein is excellent as are the pan-fried noodles. The noodle soups are cauldron-sized and can be shared. The broth is delicious. Also, very good scallion pancakes. The eggrolls can be oily if you are trying to avoid that sort of thing (I'm not! Bring on the wet naps!).

Sammy's is where students, cops, families, and others who have no reason to impress people with their eating choices go for a satisfying meal.

"Scenic view?" I happen to enjoy sitting in the window watching the endless parade of people walking along Sixth Avenue. That's the scenic view.

This Village restaurant is always packed for a reason. Food is good and cheap, but still high quality. Large portions. Service is fast but not pleasant. I always find it a challenge to make employees smile :-)
Gay friendly.
Don't miss the Bacon Dumpling, Broccoli Chicken and soups.

Average prices for entrees and soups, egg rolls were very tasty as was the best wonton soup I have had. I have eaten here many times, had mei fun, General Tso's chicken, fried rice, chicken and vegetables. Nothing very greasy as in other places, portions are larger than average. Hot and sour soup is very good. I like those old time wood floors.
