Two of us arrived at 11:00am (when the über-popular noodle restaurant opens for lunch), only to find it already half full. We were led, almost immediately, to seats at the horseshoe-shaped bar, greeted by all the waitstaff as we walked by. In short order we had menus and ordered pork-filled steam buns (brilliantly flavorful and, not surprisingly, ordered by almost everyone in the place); Karaka-men noodles (the spicier noodle option), and the day's special noodles in a lighter chicken broth; and tiny fruit tarts for dessert. The noodle bowls were the best we've ever had, rich and firm; the broths hearty. By the time we left, the restaurant was full, with a dozen or so waiting to be seated. We were the only non-Asian couple at the 20 or so noodle bar for most of the meal. The waitstaff are incredibly friendly and helpful, and though the tables seem to turn over quickly, we didn't feel at all rushed. Expect crowds, but your patience will be well rewarded if you come (as we intend to, over and over).
