We were there during one of the "restaurant weeks" - where top restaurants offer smaller portions and bargain prices for "those people" to try. I say "those people" because that's what we were greeted with by the server. It was funny, seriously, I laughed. We weren't "those people" - we ordered from the regular menu. I had the Delmonico Steak - which they're known for. . . it was good, even though I got an eye-roll when I ordered it medium-well. I also had the Delmonico Potatoes - not as good as I had hoped, had a thick layer of cheese that wasn't to my taste, but someone else liked them. We were stuffed, but ordered the chocolate caramel torte to share. The waiter asked how we liked it, I replied "it was alright' . . . and received another round of eye-roll! (Absolutely hilarious!) The base of the torte was crunchy as though it was dried out or over-cooked, it was hard to get a fork through, the chocolate/caramel sauce did not have much flavor. When you're spending $100+ per person, you expect everything to be more than "ok." I'm rating this a 4 due to the good service of the staff, the history of the place and the steak was very good quality - after all it is a steak house. And I must emphasis that the reaction of the waiter was fantastically humorous - he still was a good waiter - his reaction actually made our visit that much more fun!
