Iron Chef Michael Symon was right. This could be the best thing I ever ate! The Jumbo Beef Rib was to die for- fall off the bone, juicy tender. I didn't know it was possible for meat to melt in your mouth! Made the trek in the cold and the rain but it was well worth it. Great sides and sweet tea. Can't wait till summer when they have custard.

After researching BBQ in NYC extensively, we decided to have one of our two BBQ meals in NYC at Daisy May. We went on the afternoon of Black Friday and the place was mostly empty, except for a large party arriving as we left. Ordered Beef Brisket, Memphis dry ribs, and pulled pork. Beef brisket was chunked and swimming in sweet sauce. Having traveled through Texas recently to BBQ palaces, such as City Market, this was extremely disappointing. My guess is that a French trained chef like Lang might prefer to smother his meat in sauce rather than let the meat stand on its own. BBQ is a personal choice and all these choices were wrong for me. Pulled pork also slathered in a south Carolina style sauce which missed the mark. Having eaten plenty of S Carolina BBQ, this place totally messed it up. Memphis dry ribs are supposed to have a dry rub, which they did. They are not supposed to have completely dry meat like beef jerky. Expectations were extremely high. This place missed on almost all marks. Needed a key to use the bathrooms!?!?!!? Beans and Cornbread were slightly above average. Just another media crazed publicity hyped disappointment. Staff was indifferent, impatient and unfriendly. My guess is if you never had real BBQ outside of the northeast you might come away happy.

We bumped into this restaurant on our way from the USS Intrepid to the center of NYC. Because of the Zagat best bbq reward, we had our lunch there: we choose for kansas city sweet & sticky pork ribs, cajun dirty rice and beans, and bourbon peaches.

Rating: the rice was pretty boring, the ribs OK but fairly standard (and not sticky) and the peaches were yummy.

A pity that the outdoor dining is no longer there!

Real food for real people. This is not a place to take the person you want to hook up with - this a place where you take the person you want want to marry. I think it's soul food and nostalgic experience for all of us... Good non-fancy food that make you happy.

We didn't know anything else from this place other than that Daniel Bouloud recommended this. So we were kind of surprised, but in a good way. We had pulled chicken, corn, ribs, mashed potatoes and mac&cheese. Everything was so good, my husband absolutely loved the ribs!

The beef rib is to die for. I'm stuffed. The brisket sandwich was fine.
