We dined here with our daughter on a recent visit to New York. The food was decent, but nothing special. Some of it did not seem very seasonal. The service was very slow and not very responsive. We asked for our daughter's burger to be cooked to medium and it was pretty rare. Way too long between courses. It shouldn't take 2 hours to eat on a Monday night when you arrive at 6pm.

After several visits for dlinner, today was the first brunch at Good.

This is a small space (with sidewalk seating) that wastes not a square inch with table placement, but I have never felt squeezed, including today in a party of four.

Good is well known for brunch so our late reservation availability came as quite a surprise and treat. The greeting at the door was friendly and professional and our table was waiting with no stop required at the cozy bar.

Service was prompt and efficient. My advice to my brunch companions was to appreciate the nice, southern-style twists that characterize the menu here and to have a good culinary experience.

We were not disappointed. There are of course the usual brunch offerings, some incorporating the above-mentioned twists. Having already had a nice breakfast, my BLTM (for mozzarella) open sandwich was a more than sufficient plate with the bread deliciously enhanced by an ailoi sauce. The other mains at the table were similarly satisfying.

There is a good buzz here, with a characteristic mix of Village folk of all persuasions as well as day-trippers to the Village.

This is a neighborhood gem with legs, as it should be. Occasional repeat visits mandatory.

Were we singled out? Looking at other reviews, it would seem so. Or maybe it was the chef's day off!

Bad to worse is how our experience was. My 'medium well' burger was 'well burnt' instead, as was even the side order of sour dough bread (they tried toasting it, failed, burnt it instead)

Likewise, my wife's fish was also burnt. By the end of our meal, we wanted to suggest they rename themselves Burnt in place of Good.

Considering other reviews and that we were there for lunch on a weekday, maybe it WAS the chef's time off.

After trying literally everything on the menu, I've decided there is nothing I do not like! The Stuffed Dates and Mac & Cheese are to die for. The essential American comfort food restaurant with New York style. This is the total package, food combinations you'd never thought of, with a next level of culinary intelligence! It's not just good, it's absolutely great!

This neighborhood is full of brunch places - maybe explains why it was easy to make a day-of reservation here via opentable (we probably could have just walked in, although the restaurant did start to fill up around 12:30/1). Despite the ease of getting in, the food was legit. Menu was interesting enough with some creative spins on classics, but not so out-there that you're left wondering what to eat. Had the cazuelas (baked eggs dish) which was nicely seasoned though a little over-baked - yolks were fully set instead of runny. Husband had the pork belly hash which was also perfectly seasoned and delicious. The neighborhood is also really cute to walk around afterwards. Probably better for couples or groups of 4, as the tables were fairly small and close together.
