The best NYC experience to make you feel like a local. The white sangria is out of this world and the view on a clear day is gorgeous. Being right on the water and having drinks on a warm sunny day in NYC is fabulous. Good volume to hold a conversation and it is always busy, but usually there is a table available at least for two.

you can enjoy casual dining with an amazing athmosphere/view. Clean bathrooms. If you go inside the boat, there is a dance floor with a dj cabin. It could be the best place to throw a private party. Good beers and hipsters. Fast and friendly service. Make sure to grab your friends when going there since you will not understand how fast time passes and you will be drunk by then. I will continue going there everytime I visit NYC.

I am a college student, this was a little pricey the drinks were about 8 bucks a piece which is a lot of for me. However, we picked a gorgeous night and the sun was setting when we were on the boat. SO WORTH IT. highly recommend.

I am really grateful to a friend in NY for suggesting some drinks and a light 'supper' here.

It's bigger than you may expect, the staff are friendly and outgoing and there's a good selection of beers!

Do not be mislead by the map here which at the time of this review was very wrong. The Frying Pan is an Historic Lightship which with other older vessels are moored on a short pier on The Hudson at the end of West 24th Street, a little north of Chelsea Piers.

If not already used for, this pier would make an absolutely authentic setting for a Mad Max or Water World sequel as it a somewhat surreal eclectic mish-mash of all things rusting, nautical and uber improvised. Miscellaneous artefacts are strewn across the decking which adds to the general ambiance of the aftermath of a pirate marauding.

It is all fascinating and quite unlike anything we have come across in NYC or anywhere else, come to that, and its situation affords great views of river and it's traffic and, of course, in the sultry summer a refreshing breeze.

You would not travel miles here for a gourmet experience as it is very basic but tasty grub that you order at the bar, wait for you number to appear on an electronic display and go and collect it from the 'galley' and choose your table from the many available.

It does not open during certain winter months so before making a special journey to experience this 'out of the usual' attraction it would be worth checking.
