This is one of my favorite summer spots in the whole city. It's a great plae to go with some friends and enjoy the Hudson River views while munching on grill food and drinking cold beer or the delicious "Electric Lemonade". Not fancy, but a real get away right in the middle of the city. A great place to start or finish a stroll through Riverside Park.

The food it totally good...not the best ever, but not at all bad. Only downside is that they a lot of use disposable flatware....too much going into the land fill...

Work up an appetite taking a walk through Riverside Park and then stop by the Boat Basin for lunch. Enjoy a beautiful view of the Hudson River while enjoying a yummy meal on the restaurant's deck. I recommend the chicken salad with cranberries. It was delicious and nutritious. Other salads looked great. Dog-friendly as well. What more can you ask?

Right on the Hudson River. Tables outside. Fun place to go to. A little hard to get to.

Key: Go on a weekday evening with perfect weather - expect an outdoor "picnic".

The Boat Basin is one of those little known unique places known primarily to locals that define a city. The vaulted concrete ceilings with strings of twinkle lights above you hide the fact that the busy westside highway traffic circle is topside. You will never notice this, you will only hear the zen like peaceful clanking of the boat moorings on the river.

Take note of all the other reviews saying the food is mediocre. That is the perfect attitude to have! I always go expecting mediocre food, and I always come away thinking, ...boy that burger was really pretty darn good! Not April Bloomfeld's Breslin Burger, but pretty darn tasty. The plastic basket and utensils give it a picnic feel. But be warned: a cold rainy night can wash any charm away.

So this 5 star review isn't so much a critique of the food. It is about all you non Wall Streeters, who haven't gotten your taxpayer funded riverfront condo, finding a memorable sunset dinner on the Hudson too!
