Description: Le Colonial is a truly delightful culinary experience. Like stepping into French Colonial Southeast Asia, this two-story restaurant, designed by Greg Jordan, consists of a main dining room with louvered wall panels, colorful tile floors, and vintage photos of Vietnam. Upstairs is an elegant, but lively, lounge serving a full dinner or just appetizers and cocktails. The lounge serves as an ideal setting for private parties and business dinners. Le Colonial serves an authentic Vietnamese menu with an emphasis on fresh seafood, meats, and vegetables.

We hope to go to Vietnam soon, so wanted to start learning more about the food. My husband, who flew in Vietnam, didn't think it was terribly authentic, but I doubt that he ate in more than the O Club when he as there. I had a broiled shrimp and scallop entree that was delicious. He had the whole snapper, and ate every bit of it. Our appetizers were both the spring and summer rolls, and of course they were good, just not particularly unusual.

Of course, this is NYC and not Hanoi, but the decor would fool you, looked like the set of the film Indochine, absolutely beautiful.

It's been 15 years since my lady visit and not much if anything has changed. So while journey back in time was nice, it's not hip NYC. For the price, fair. Nice clientele. Ok in a pinch

It is very difficult to find a good, quiet, and not very expensive restaurant in New York City, but if you are searching for one,
Le Colonial is a definite contender. 1920's Indochina decor and ambiance, beautifully executed. The food is delicately prepared, very fresh and very well presented. It has high ceilings and is quiet. The wine was fine and not prohibitably expensive. I could not ask for more.

We recently dined at Le Colonial, while in New York City, and would HIGHLY recommend it for anyone wanting a wonderful dining experience. The restaurant transports you back to the days of French Indochine, with its period decor, and gracious staff. Although the prices are a bit higher, the service, cuisine, and experience will leave you pampered and satisfied. I enjoyed the roasted duck course which is the most amount of duck I have ever been served.. It was exquisite, done to perfection. The restaurant also has a upstairs lounge, which also gives you the feeling of going back in time, an extensive wine list, delicious cocktails and ample seating comfort. This restaurant offers you an evening experience, which you will want to take again.
