“Business lunch among powerful people!”
Reviewed May 11, 2013

For some reason some places attract power and this place does. There is obviously a celebrity owner, that helps. Food though is very good and service attentive. It is a great place to bring clients to entertain over lunch. You feel like you are in an in place. A bit pricey for what you eat.

“Great server”
Reviewed May 2, 2013 via mobile

Its always easy to hype any establishment - for me it's about the atmosphere, the service and the food, and it matters greatly if they combine. We had a great welcome, but in part we arrived on the nose for our lunch reservation. Our server was first class and made for conversation, and properly represented the food offer and was knowledgable. Finally, the food, we savoured every mouthful, and in combination with two cheeky beers, had an excellent lunch. The place will be too intimidating for some with the power lunches, but sit back, engage with service team and I reckon you will get a much better experience for it. Many of the diners where meeting over lunch and this of course creates its own dynamic. For us the meeting we had was superb, we laughed with the server, ate some delicious food, and we're very well looked after. For the food 8/10 and for service 9/10. Will I be back - I very much hope so. Thank you for a wonderful lunch.

“Good food and service but thought I'd be more impressed.”
Reviewed May 1, 2013

We were a party of 6 out for a birthday. The sommellier helped us pick a good wine and didn't go straight to the triple digits! We had the chicken meatballs, Fresco bread and mini calzones for appetizers; all of which were excellent. For entrees: Two of us had the lamb chops with polenta fries and were thrilled with our choice! I ordered the spaghettini with vongole clams and was disappointed -- the clams were a tad chewy and the dish lacked overall flavor. I honestly can't remember what the other people ordered but there were no complaints (or raves). The birthday girl had tiramasu but didn't share because it was so delicious! The Bornboloni (donuts) and the cookies & cream dip were excellent too. I know it sounds like I should be giving this place more stars but overall I wanted to be wowed and wasn't.

I personally felt that the room was a bit bright for my taste. The bright lights make it less intimate. Note: The bathroom is upstairs. Our waiter was very attentive. Reservations are necessary especially for large parties. You may make them a month in advance. They are not on opentable.com

Because I live in NY, I have access to tons of excellent restaurants and hardly ever feel the need to return to one. Been there, done that.

“Tasty midtown venue more for political chowing”
Reviewed April 27, 2013

We came here for a business luncheon. Thank goodness we made reservations because the place was crowded with many other business clientele. They seated us pretty quickly and proceed to ask for our drink orders. Great, since we were on a tight schedule.
With our drinks we also ordered some grilled flatbread which came with a garlic white cannelloni bean dip and also an order of fried calamari. The calamari was tender and crisp with just the right amount of salt and the peppers added a slight kick.
Waitress provided detailed description of their daily specials.
One was a branzino served with pickled beets, bok choy, asparagus and puréed sweet peas. There was also a gluten free pasta option on their standard menu - served with swiss chard, fried eggplant, grilled artichoke hearts and grilled cherry tomatoes in a light garlic tomato sauce.
The others ordered a pesto garlic gnocchi, lobster ravioli in truffle cream sauce (daily special), and shrimp fetticuine fra diavolo (spicy tomato) sauce.
Our drinks we never empty, our waitress excellent and attentive. Too full to order desserts we had to forgo the tiramisu, coffee, etc.
Thank goodness it was a business expense because the bill was expensive.
Specials ranged from $35-40. Average dishes run from $20-30.

We had a selection of starters which were all good. Risotto for main which was lovely, just too much. The service was friendly and the restaurant had a lovely warm atmosphere
