I have been frequenting this establishment for many years and to date have never been let down... Great eats, yummy cocktails, and Latin infused music along with gorgeous south American/ Cuban decor pleases all the senses!! If you haven't already I urge you to check out this hidden ave c gem!

“Great food, great service, a little loud”
Reviewed May 11, 2012

The food was amazing. Fejioda was maybe one of the most delicious meals I have ever had, and the desserts were similarly amazing, even for New York. I love the space - it's very home-made looking, and the service was fantastic. They have a jazz duo playing, who played really well, but in that tiny space the sax drowned out all conversation, and that was a little disappointing. They might want to table that live music until they open the doors for summer and put them on the sidewalk.

“Fun atmosphere and incredible food”
Reviewed March 26, 2012

Visited the restaurant based on a review from NY Magazine. I was looking for a fun restaurant before a show. The place was great! We were greeted as soon as we walked in. Be prepared to have a couple different waiters but they were always attentive without being annoying. We had a 6pm reservation but the restaurant was pretty empty. It was busy by 7:45.

For starters we had the Tapas Plate. The ceviche was very good. For entrees we had the Moqueca Bahania, AMAZING, it was mixed fish (crab, shrimp and fish) in a coconut milk sauce served with rice. We also had the grilled vegetables. It was charred on the grill, moist inside, with cilantro lime rice. They were all very good. Pitchers of sangria is highly recommended. We had to get a second pitcher :)

“Nice, cozy spot”
Reviewed December 20, 2011

Esperanto was delightful. Not only was the food tasty, but the staff was super friendly. It is worth the walk to Avenue C! Only suggestion--wear layers in the winter! The restaurant is a bit warm, so you may need to take off your sweater!
