We were recommended this by a friend and we were so pleased we found and tried it.
We were told there was a 30 minute wait so we went to the irish bar across the road for a drink and when we returned our table was ready.
I had the special, French Onion Soup was amazing, do try it. The salad has the house dressing on which was fab as well and the caramel creme was great and it included a glass a wine so was good value for money.
Dont miss this little gem.

We often go to the theater in NYC. Over the years we have dined at La Bonne Soupe many, many times. In fact it is one of our favorite restaurants. Service has always been optimal and friendly. Our favorite choices from the menu are the crepes and the French Onion soup. House salad dressing is delicious. Dessert choice is 'creme caramel.' Moderately priced it is definitely a place we keep returning to as it is not touristy! Seems to be frequented by locals. Bon appetit!

What a great find for French bistro food in a cosy inviting atmosphere. The hamburgers are served French style (no bun) and they are great
French onion soup to die for and our only regret is not getting the fondue. There is a little more room upstairs and you will find this restaurant busy well into the night.

We were staying on a nearby hotel and asked the concierge for suggestions for a good bowl of hit soup. We were glad they recommended La Bonney Soup. My wife had the pate and I had the special that included salad, soup ( mine was tomato creme with veggies), caramel creme for dessert and a beer. Everything was tasty and service was pretty good. No complaints on service. We felt they just were not the hovering type and that suited us. The place is small and seating is tight. The fondue and onion soup seemed popular. We saw some omelettes that looked good. The prices were reasonable. I would highly recommend this place.

We make it a point to enjoy LBS every year upon our post-XMAS trip to New York, and we are never disappointed! This year we needed to add 4 people to our party at the last minute, and the wonderful folks at La Bonne couldn't have been more accommodating.
Let me be sure to mention the reason we keep coming back: the food is so wonderful!
