Description: Carmine's simple and very popular concept is to serve every meal in the style of an Italian American wedding feast - which means large portions of home-style antipasti, pastas, seafood and meat entrees served on large platters designed for sharing. And when we say large, we mean large. An entree here could easily feed three to four average eaters. Located in a sprawling, former grand ballroom on the Upper West Side of Manhattan, this is the original Carmines. Designed by Peter Niemitz, the interiors evoke the images of the quintessential New York restaurant. With elements and details from the 1920s to the 1940s, the restaurant has the look and feel of a place that has been around for much longer than it's 1990 opening. If you are in the market for freshly prepared family style Italian food that is served in huge portions at reasonable prices, this is the place for you.

I went with 8 people. The waiter was professional & efficient. We all shared the cheesy garlic bread (out of this world), a huge salad, three pastas and two meat dishes. It was very tasty. The only dish that didn't go over well was the bolognese.

We went here for my daughter's b'day during a trip to NYC with some locals who had recommended and made reservations. Every part of meal was good - bread, salad, entrees, dessert, service, martini!!!! Our server was fun and attentive to us. Remember it is family style so no need to order an entree for every person. We ate and ate and had a great time. Next time in NYC - we WILL go back!!!

AMAZING FOOD!!! So good but best for a group because the portions are so large. I've tried most everything on the menu and it's all good

All this hype about Carmines, the hot antipasto was worth 10.00 something you get from Applebees or Chili's, how dare they place 2 slices of bread with a spinach artichoke dip, shame on them, six small mussels, cheap,,,what happened to the stuffed mushrooms, shrimps, and baked clams. The bread on the table was stale and bread sticks soggy.

Fabulous! Huge "Cheers" in the heart of theater district and a block off Times Square. Perfect ambience. Good, authentic Italian menu BUT better for families or groups, as each entree or starter is family size do it could feed 5-6! Wish they has a single portion option so we could have ordered more than one item.
