Description: Carmine's simple and very popular concept is to serve every meal in the style of an Italian American wedding feast - which means large portions of home-style antipasti, pastas, seafood and meat entrees served on large platters designed for sharing. And when we say large, we mean large. An entree here could easily feed three to four average eaters. Located in a sprawling, former grand ballroom on the Upper West Side of Manhattan, this is the original Carmines. Designed by Peter Niemitz, the interiors evoke the images of the quintessential New York restaurant. With elements and details from the 1920s to the 1940s, the restaurant has the look and feel of a place that has been around for much longer than it's 1990 opening. If you are in the market for freshly prepared family style Italian food that is served in huge portions at reasonable prices, this is the place for you.

Located in Manhattan NYC at 91 Street & Broadway. Kind of a pain if your not used to parking & getting around in the big city hustle & bustle. Also normally very crowded ! No worries wait times are reasonable (HINT reservations) The food is served family style and there is an abundance of it, a party of 8 can easily get by with 2-3 entree's and the salad. It is an "old style Italian family place". We all left full and still had plenty to take home. Reasonably Priced ! especially for Manhattan. Suggestion be certain that where you park is legal. It wont be the perfect ending and you cant be happy if you come out and find a $125 ticket or worse find that you have been towed.
All the food was VERY good and real hot. the wait staff were extremely efficient under the circumstances (there was more than 200 people eating at any given time) crowded with people continuously coming and going. Overall Everything was FANTASTIC ! and I cant say enough good things about it. After we finished dinner we asked the waiter what was in the dish that we had he said he'd be right back, he returned a few min later with a pre-printed recipe card. I guess they get a lot of recipe requests. I will definitely go back.

Our family goes to Carmine's at least once a year. We love the food (quantity and quality). We have never left this restaurant dissatisfied. If you have a large group and don't want to spend a lot of money, this is the place to go.

There's plenty of street meter parking nearby. Most importantly, book a reservation!

You need to be hungry to get the best value from your visit, because the food is served 'family style' and portions are enormous! My wife and I shared a dish of spaghetti bolognese, which was simply delicious, with subtle flavours that lingered after we had finished this memorable meal. Draft beers on tap included Blue Moon, a personal favorite. Great value and we look forward to our next visit to Carmine's.

One of my favorite places in NYC. It is a huge restaurant and for serving so many masses of people , it runs the risk of putting out mediocre good. Definitely not the case. My favorite is their chicken in lemon and butter sauce. So good that I want to lick the plate! The portions are huge and could easily be shared by two or even three people. Otherwise, take a doggy bag , for sure . The Chicken Marsala is also excellent. They have real semolina Italian bread, which I can only find in old Italian bakeries in Brooklyn and if you ask nicely, they will even give you some to go! Don't be put off by the grand scale of this restaurant, they do a superb job. There is a constant line out the door for a reason . Don't miss it!!
