“Always A Standout”

While this is hardly the place for anyone on a travel budget, the experience is well worth the expense. I have eaten here a few times over the years, and the dinner is just extraordinary. The service is exemplary.

“Top Notch”

Excellent Food and Wine. Service was spectacular. What you would expect of an upscale restaurant. The short ribs are to die for. (duo of Beef)

“Only a hair away from absolute perfection”
Reviewed May 11, 2014

Even in the finest restaurants around the world, there seems to always be a thing or two where they fall down, but Daniel does not fall short in any respects, and my only quibble was that one small part of one course was merely perfectly done, rather than stunningly interesting and delicious. A friend and I had the seven course tasting menu, and it was well worth it. In addition the the seven courses, some of which included multiple elements, we got four amuses bouche, and a total of seven different petits fours, plus a cookie with coffee. Each individual item was meticulously prepared and presented. Not only was each item perfectly done; each was individual, in character, and each a culinary revelation in itself. Service was comfortable and helpful, and the staff did not intrude at all, supplied everything you needed, but at the same time always had time to engage and chat if you had questions. We had the wine pairings, which were nicely done -- although I often lean toward simply picking out a wine I like and drinking that throughout the meal without looking for the wine to relate to the food. A nice touch is that, while the pours and pairings are generous, it you do happen to run short of wine on a particular course they quietly pour you a few more drops so you do not run dry. All told, I think dinner lasted about four hours, so while it may be a bit pricey, the actual cost per hour is on a par with what many lesser restaurants charge.

“Flawless, highest standard.”
Reviewed May 11, 2014

Come to think of it, it is really hard to find flaws with this place. Even with the highest expectations beforehand after reading and hearing so many amazing things about it, it didn't fall short when experienced in person, because they are all true! It was a superb dining experience for us and we can't appreciate more their attentions to the tiniest details. The foods were truly innovative and amazing (we needed to mention the beef in the main Beef Duo, as they are probably the tenderest on the planet). Even the home made rolls were kind of irresistible. The service was so smooth that it felt like an orchestrated dancing, intimate, attentive but not overbearing. The water boy even flagged down a cab for us and closed the door for us behind.
The only flaw may be that the foods were so tasty and beautifully presented, we were getting too full by just the fixed three course (can't imagine if we chose the seven courses). After the dessert, three complimentary tasting desserts (all tiny bites) came along. Again, something impossible to resist, so we just kind of let the concept of calories all go and indulged ourselves in ending the dinner with one more little treat.
