Description: Since 1963, Victor’s Cafe, a family-run New York City landmark, continues to be a culinary voyage to Cuba offering an incomparable experience with its harmony of authentic cuisine, hospitality and stylish environment. Victor’s has the unique distinction of being both luxurious and casual, serene and high energy, family oriented and romantic, exotic yet familiar. The cuisine at Victor’s includes the most delicious, authentic dishes combined with the restaurant’s exclusive creations that represent the evolution of Cuban cuisine. Signature dishes include Victor’s famous black bean soup, shredded beef (“Ropa Vieja”), and roast suckling pig (“Lechon”). The restaurant itself is divided into three spacious dining rooms, accented with warm lighting, colorful Cuban art, tropical ceiling fans, and lofty sky-lit ceilings. The restaurant's Cuba Lounge is intimate and warm, featuring a tapas menu and a variety of traditional Cuban cocktails such as Mojitos and Sangria.

Lively atmosphere with Latin rhythms; excellent service at dinner on a summer Saturday evening. Adobo filet mignon was tender but adobo flavor didn't come through strongly. Ropa vieja, house special, was tender, not overpowering by any means. Portion sizes were nice, not too big. Only sides included were black beans and rice without much flavor. We enjoyed sharing seafood appetizer sampler - several distinct and delicious flavors. LChocolate lava cake with ice cream was delicious end to meal. I'm sure it would have been enhanced by tawny port, but I didn't go there. Bill for 1 appetizer, 4 drinks, 2 entrees, 2 desserts was 148 plus 13 in tax (plus tip of course), so it isn't cheap. We were in at 6:20 and out in plenty of time for 8 pm theatre.

Have not been to Victor's in years but it did not disappoint. The area we were seated in was a bit cramped but it was worth it. We went on a Monday evening so there was no live music but the food and drinks kept us entertained. We started with the Victor's anniversary Mojito. It was the best drink I have ever had. Our waiter was incredibly helpful with food suggestions. We had the ceviche as an appetizer and the branzino ( european sea bass ) as an entree. They serve plantain chips instead of bread. Delicious. We hard champagne sangria with dinner which also was yummy. We were too full for dessert but left very happy. I think if you are a food looking for a nice place to eat near time's square, you will love Victor's Cafe.

Victor’s Cafe has been around forever - since 1963. Located in the heart of the theatre district it proves to be the perfect place for pre theatre lunch or dinner. The decor - the service and the food all offer a positive experience.

The decor has some old world Havana charm. The rooms are decorated to reflect the cuisine. Old style fans and lighting fixture - art work and seating all give a cozy and comfortable feel.

The staff is very professional and attentive to your every need. Since we were having a pre-theatre lunch our appetites were somewhat subdued. Of course we did enjoy a cold drink on a summers day - Margarita Cubana 12.00 and a Hemingway Daiquiri 14.00. My wife and I decided to split two courses - a lite Ensalada De Palmitos Y Mandarine Greens, cranberry, almonds with champagne vinaigrette 13.00. We also split a traditional pressed Cuban Sandwich with hand carved Lechon, ham, swiss cheese, pickle and mustard on a cuban roll 13.00. The sandwich was fantastic and the perfect compliment to our mild appetites. This sandwich was large enough to share - although I could easily eat one by myself. It was accompanies by baked chips. The finale for me came when I ordered a Cuban Espresso which was the best expresso I have ever had - deep rich dark coffee with sugar and a touch of cinnamon. Fantastic!

It is worth noting the service staff had no problem with us sharing and there were no plate charges added to the bill. The service was excellent.

Overall I would highly recommend Victor’s as a great place to enjoy a fun - casual Cuban meal. If you’re in NYC for a play it is perfect for pre-theatre dining.

Great - truly outstanding food, atmosphere and service.

One of the trip advisor reviews said that Victor's Cafe is too touristy -- it almost made us cancel our reservation. Luckily we went and were immediately glad we did. Seated and served quickly, but never rushed. Started with a surprisingly strong mojito, followed by Taste of Cuba sampler and a daily special of grilled sea bass. Everything was beautifully prepared.

Special word about the gracious service. Little details like stopping by to check that we were happy with the special that he recommended (we were!) showed the level of professionalism and pride in what they were doing.

Overall we paid 140$ for a huge meal with drinks, desert, coffee and tip. Wouldn't want to spend that much for dinner every day, but for what we got, it felt like a bargain.
