Really hyped up. Yes first Pizza in NY, but not the last. Pizza was ok as compared to the thousands upon thousands of pizza in NY. Read my other review recently of another close establishment. Service was good, host was on par with wait times, and bar service was good during that wait. A tad overpriced for Pizza for the regular or "townie".

My partner and I visited early evening and there were already a large number of families waiting outside. I was ready to give it a miss as I had spent enough time queuing in NYC, however they operate an efficient paging system and give an accurate wait time. As it was mostly families at that time, the bar area was free so we spent a happy 40 mins sat there with a beer.

It is a bit of a tourist trap and overpriced for pizza, but the quality of the food is great and the size of the pizzas are massive. I would recommend.

Not bad pizza but overpriced and not worth the hype. Waited in freezing weather for an hour just to get in when they were so overcrowded that there wasn't enough room to stand inside. People who showed up after us got to at least wait inside while we were still waiting outside. They need a more fair system when it comes to waiting.

Lombardi's has a reputation as being a crowded tourist spot. And it's for good reason: best pizza and service! Its insanely popular because it deserves to be.

Hint: go for lunch! Arrive before they open and beat the lines. We met Mr. Lombardi, who is often there greeting people when they open. We got a great table and had a delicious, relaxed lunch.

And the pizza is amazing!

But bring cash...they don't take plastic.

The pizzas are unfortunately completely tasteless (the tomato base is bland and the toppings taste of nothing) and quite expensive. For 2 starters and 3 pizzas we paid $120. If you really want to experience the oldest pizzeria in NYC, do go there but I dont think you will enjoy the culinary experience.
Cash payment only but there is an ATM in the restaurant.
