We like sushi and sashimi, anytime we can we look for a place where to go, this time we went here twice as fish was gorgeous, and the way was prepared was unique! I'll recommend, reservation is mandatory but not accepted for couples.

We may have chosen the wrong evening to dine here, but I definitely was underwhelmed by my dining experience here in spite of all the good reviews.

The Good: The restaurant has a chic pleasant ambience, and in spite of having no reservation on a packed evening, we only waited 20 minutes for a seat at the sushi bar which was reasonable. while waiting, the staff made every effort to seat us as comfortably as possible in the cramped waiting area and serve us our cocktails meanwhile.

The Not So Good: It was Sunday evening and perhaps this was not the best day to have sashimi. While I cannot say that the fish was not fresh, it was definitely not at the peak of freshness. We ate our way through most of the various fish on offer, and only the uni was really up to scratch. We ordered the whole Aji sashimi but only received half the fish served on the entire fish skeleton! (The bill reflected it as one order too). The bones which were then fried and served had been fried at the wrong temperature and had absorbed a lot of the oil they were fried in, which in turn smelt like it had been used one time too many. There was absolutely no interaction between the chefs behind the sushi counter and the customers seated at the sushi bar, something of a given in any Japanese restaurant, and the whole point of sitting at the sushi counter in the first place. Instead our orders we taken by a waiter with a bit of a "too cool for school" attitude.
Total bill was $270 before the customary 20% tip, this included about $50 of drinks. Though not particularly expensive for Japanese food, I felt the standard of the food and service was more akin to that in one of the impersonal chain Japanese restaurants prevalent in Asia catered to the masses, and not a very intimate dining experience one would expect of a proper Japanese restaurant.

Fantastic sushi in a pleasant atmosphere. Always busy so prepare to wait for a table. Very pricey but the food tastes amazing especially the mackerel as they fry the bones and skin after the sushi

I've never had a bad experience at Blue Ribbon, including the one in Vegas. The sashimi is fresh and the atmosphere is laid back and comfortable. We've never had to wait for a table and the service is always excellent. Get the fried chicken. I know it sounds weird, ordering friend chicken at a sushi place, but it is yummy, you won't regret it!
