Description: Innovative American Cuisine, Great Specials & More...If you've not yet discovered Philip Marie, a neighborhood gem in the heart of the West Village, you're in for a real treat. It's here that Executive Chef and Owner John Philip Greco III works his culinary magic in an environment steeped in New York City's hidden past. Despite its historic setting, replete with secret underground passages, a former speak-easy and the shadows of a 200-year old love story, the restaurant's concept and menu exhibit the young, hip creative take on "good ol' American food" with which the owner opened his brain-child 15 years ago. Philip Marie's main dining room continues to set the stage for some of the most innovative American dishes in New York, including wild game, exotic meats, fresh seafood and irresistible desserts. An extensive Wine List & Reserve list, boasting incredible wines from around the world, enables a perfect wine-food pairing for each luscious course, while the bar offers unique cocktails. A warm and attentive staff helps to maintain Philip Marie's extremely devoted clientele.

“Not an ordinary meal - less than so”
Reviewed April 29, 2014

Three who had not made reservations were in this neighborhood, which has many fine places to go. We thought "Should be good, it's the West Village." The $10 Chardonnay we ordered 3 of, I remember as slow in coming and not delicious. After White Gazpacho, hearts of palm and baked brie appetizers, we had mussels, ok, and veal medallions, I've had better every time I've ever ordered. My guest had salmon - it was socially difficult for him to appraise. With some more wine, it came to $174 before tip. Not crowded, so no noise level problems. Decor is nothing to remark on.

“Fabulous date night restaurant”
Reviewed February 22, 2014

My partner and I went to Philp Marie for an early dinner on Valentine's Day. It turned out to be the most romantic and delicious meal we've ever had. The food was phenomenal. Starting with the baked brie, to wild mushroom ravioli and finishing it off with an awesome chocolate dessert.

“Unparalleled Service, Uneven Brunch”
Reviewed December 26, 2013

We met friends for brunch on a Saturday afternoon and could not have felt more welcome in this cozy Hudson Street spot, across from the Wild Horse Tavern. We would probably return. But because we want PM to succeed we must be honest about our experience and offer constructive criticism. Two of us ordered eggs crab benedict and were surprised at the deep fried, meager crab cakes that sat on our plate. They were largely inedible. A fritata, by contrast, was delicious and the salads were generous. An off day perhaps? We will definitely be back but hope to find a little more attention to what comes out of the kitchen.
