“Wonderful location, decent rooms.”
Reviewed August 21, 2013

I stayed here for 6 days in a 2-bedroom suite this summer. It's not the coolest or most luxurious hotel (if I am being picky!) despite it's 5 star rating but it can't be beaten for location. The rooms are decorated in a basic, comfortable and minimal way but are spacious, clean and very modern. I requested a high floor, which was granted on arrival and views of Central Park were spectacular. The restaurant was under construction at the time but staff were happy to suggest local restaurants. The hotel is perfectly located at the edge of the Park and a short walk from the best department stores and from Times Square. The suite had 2 bathrooms, a very comfortable sofa-bed and 2 large screen TVs. Staff very efficient and friendly. I would stay here again if I was conducting most of my business and sightseeing uptown. Strangely, for such a large hotel, we rarely ran into many other guests, so it does not have the feel of a huge business hotel, which I somewhat expected. All round, a great stay.

When you check in....ask to exchange out your hair dryer for a coffee maker. Otherwise...be prepared to pay $25 for a coffee maker to be delivered to your room and additional charges each day to refill the coffee!

Good location. Asked for a high floor and park view upgrade. Got neither, but that was not the endo f the world. Tired Furnishings in room. Peeling paint on bathroom ceiling. Overly complex and sluggish tv console. Free wifi very slow. Comfortable bed. Room size ok for NYC. Would look elsewhere at these prices.

We were very happy with the whole experience at the JW Marriott. The room was very comfortable and quiet with neat little touches like motion sensing night lights and mood lighting. Every light in our room was dim able, so you could really adjust the mood to your liking. Everything was very modern and clean as well, so those who are worried about the age of the building have nothing to worry about. We are elite Marriott members, so were able to take advantage of the executive lounge for breakfast and afternoon snacks. I was amazed at the quality of the food, not to mention the array of different foods and drinks available. The location of the hotel is perfect if you plan to explore Central Park or anywhere near midtown Manhattan. Of course, there is a subway stop two blocks away, so there is nowhere you can't be in short order. The service was top notch from the front desk personnel to the security and servers/wait staff. We will definitely return to this hotel when we return to NYC!

Loved my stay at the Essex House! The rooms are very spacious compared to a lot of other NY hotels, the mini bar is well stocked and the breakfast is delicious. The concierge were so he,pal in recommending and booking restaurants for us. My favourite aspect of this hotel is the location, right on Central Park, perfect for early morning running! I will be returning!

Room Tip: Get a room with a view of Central Park, so beautiful!

We were attending a wedding and stayed for four nights. The hotel is very well located for Central Park, Lincoln Center, shopping, Time Warner
Center and great restaurants. The staff was very friendly and helpful. We appreciated the security in the foyer. The wait for elevators was nil.
The wedding was faultless and the ballroom and adjacent salon were lovely and service was superb.
Our only criticism was the costly breakfast. The buffet is fine if one wishes a large breakfast or choices for $37. Ala carte is also costly and coffee for $9/cup is excessive. There is no continental breakfast listed. We would hope a change in this would be considered.

Excellent hotel. Service is impeccable, the hotel staff is very helpful and always with a smile. Great views of Central Park, perfect for a morning walk. Price a little bit high but its worth it. Totally recommend it.
