“Never disappoints!”

Once again Nobu delivers.
From the fantastic cocktails through each and every dish including tacos, yellowtail sashimi and an incredible sea bass tempura special the whole experience was excellent including the usual superb service.

“Excellent food”
Reviewed April 10, 2014

Discrete restaurant, hardly to be found if you are not looking for it, with absolute top quality food.

“STILL TERRIFIC”
Reviewed April 8, 2014

Excellent food so interesting and different. Sushi so fresh and like butter. Saki was delicious and the people that go there are interesting to watch too.

“Well past its "best by date"”
Reviewed April 6, 2014

Maybe if I'd dined there a few years back I might have been impressed - or maybe the 9:15 sitting on a Saturday is just the time when the staff have already "checked out".
Pretty much no part of this - other than the company of our friends - was fun; nothing was impressive and the prices were simply absurd. And yet the place was packed - but for how much longer? Surely there can't be that many tourists and/or New Yorkers with more money than sense?
No attempt is made to dampen the noise level which is way too high to allow for any serious conversation - only a series of shouting contests across the barn-like room.
The food was in no way outstanding or different and certainly did not, for the most part, justify the price point.
But the greatest disappointment of all was the shoddy, couldn't care less, attitude of a wait staff that was either over-worked or just simply not interested. It took hours to be served, delays between courses were absurdly long and glasses remained empty for way too long. The two guys who "looked after" us [it would be silly to call them waiters] made it very clear that they had far better places to be on a Saturday evening. Which may explain why they disappeared, along with half a bottle of our wine long before we were ready to leave.
We will not be going back - and, unless you're impressed by jaded reputations, you should give it a miss - life's too short and the choices too many.

“Jings, the food wis braw !”
Reviewed March 28, 2014

We were in New York for my 50th and wanted to eat somewhere special. I have to say Nobu was superb. The only table we could get was when it opened early evening, I was worried it might be a little soulless at that time, I needn't, it was packed after 15 mins.
We asked the waiter to just recommend what was good, his advice was superb and the food was sublime.
As a Scotsman I'm very aware of value for money, this place is not cheap but it was great value. Fab !
