“Simple place with Belgium stile menu”
Reviewed December 15, 2012

This local bistro, has reliable food, the decor is plaina and simple, unfortunately a bit tire and not as clean as it should be.
The meny is simple and the food is well prepared, the service is not as good as it could be, but all said and done, a good place for a fast simple lunch.

“Close to Bentley Hotel”
Reviewed September 20, 2012

Stopped in here for a quiet drink. Nice location, crisp white tablecloths and little candles make it a pretty setting. The waitstaff was excellent, very friendly and attentive.

“Nice find”
Reviewed August 17, 2012

Great bistro fare, attentive service and relaxed pace. We enjoyed a Sunday brunch (prix fixe - cocktail, pastries, entree & coffee for $22) which was not only a great value, but great food. Interesting range of choices with a French flair. Enjoy

“Lovely neighbourhood restaurant”
Reviewed August 6, 2012

We had a lovely Friday evening meal at Cafe Joul - French bistro food at its finest. The setting was intimate and tasteful, our servers were knowledgeable and helpful, the wine was lovely and reasonably price, and the food was excellent and oh so reminiscent of the best bistros in Paris. We felt we had chanced upon a hidden treasure that only locals knew about. We'll definitely go back next time we are in New York.

“Decent food, good service, terrible air conditioning”
Reviewed May 29, 2012

Went to this small, local restaurant with 5 others on Saturday evening. The experience was mixed as some entree selections were very good and others mediocre. The mussels and burgers were great as was the sausage appetizer. Bibb lettuce salad ( nothing else besides the dressing) was way overpriced at $10 or $11 for a few leaves piled on a small plate. The calves liver was cooked as ordered (rare) and had a wonderful flavor - in the part of the slices that weren't lined with cartilage and thus inedible.

The biggest problem was with the lack of air conditioning. It was a hot night and the place was sweltering. They claimed the a/c was on - which it was intermittently. However, the place did not cool down and made for an uncomfortable evening. I-m not in a rush to go back to this place but if I did it wouldn't be in warm weather.
