I visited NY with my mum for a long weekend a couple of weeks ago and I booked a table for dinner at Colicchio and Sons Tap Room after reading good reviews. The restaurant definitely lived up to expectations. It has such a fantastic atmosphere with such friendly and efficient staff. When someone at the bar managed to flick their scarf into our food as it was being brought to our table (!), the waiter could not have been more apologetic, offering us a tour of the wine cellar and kitchen (which sadly we didn't have time to take up) and providing us with a pumpkin muffin each for breakfast on our way out. They really went out of their way to look after us exceptionally well. The food itself was absolutely delicious. The bone marrow with caramelised onions and pork belly and prawns were particular favourites. All in all a wonderful and memorable evening. If I visit NY again, I will definitely return!

Ate here with some work colleagues; and we had a great experience.

Wait staff was friendly but not overbearing -- appetizers were tasty (and sizable!), the yummy popovers were a great touch.

Of course, the quality of the meal (and steaks themselves) was fantastic. Great bearnaise!

We came here in the second week of October, based entirely upon TA recommendations, and found the best we've ever experienced.

We only had a short stay (4-nights) so we booked our restaurants with researched gusto. We didn't know the restaurant, a no.1 spot convinced us, so we rocked up at 7.30 for a table for 2.

Atmosphere was really relaxed, nothing too stuffy. 'Showing to the table guy' was awesome. 'Suggesting the wine lady' was the best ever - really bubbly, super enthusiastic, huge knowledge, genuinely nice. Our 'taking the order and bringing the food lady' was first class. She was more excited about my order of white truffle than our kids were about Christmas. Yet it was all genuine, unforced, not staged, just great.

Anyhow, food was fantastic, tasty, homely, well portioned and without pretentiousness on any level. So......perfect.

C&S...two people from Newcastle loved what you did, right the way from kitchen to service. Thank you, you made our stay.

Went here for lunch medium October. We had the prix-fixe 25 dollar menu, which is actually quite a steal for the price. Service was OK even though there were a couple of glitches, Ambience is downtown cool, and I'd recommend it anyday for a great match of price versus quality.

I had very high hopes for this spot, given its pedigree. But I was extremely disappointed. While the service was attentive and the ambiance was ok, the food was very mediocre.
