“Historic Unique Place in Lower Manhattan. Worth a stop, especially for lunch”
Reviewed July 27, 2013 via mobile

Definitely a unique place to grab a bite, or pint depending on your flavor. The food is above average with a wide selection, but the atmosphere is really what gets you. The old oak and mahogany walls covered in rifles and pictures reflects the special history of the building and tavern. If in the area, definitely drop in.

“Great food and atmosphere”
Reviewed July 23, 2013

The food was excellent, the service was good, and the atmosphere was fantastic. The prices are also very reasonable for Manhattan. We will definitely be back.

“Eat Where George W did after ending the Revolutionary War”
Reviewed July 19, 2013

Great atmosphere. Just a great time at the place where George Washington told the press corps how he kicked BUTT and took names. Hats off to the 1st President and to the FIRST "W".

“Great History...great food”
Reviewed July 13, 2013

Really enjoyed this Tavern. The food was great and the history of Washington's farewell address to his officers at this very place only added to the mystique and hora of this restaurant. Just a short walk from the Statue of Liberty the service was good, the air was cool (which was very much appreciated during our stay in NYC) and the food was great. The burger, the cheese and meat platter, the Jefferson Cobb salad and the chicken pot pie were all winners. I plan to read a bit more on this area in relation to Washington and his men. Great stop...don't miss it.

“History and Great Beer!”
Reviewed July 9, 2013 via mobile

We were on our way to Battery Park and stopped at Fraunces for a beer. What a great tavern. The history related to George Washington was so interesting. The restaurant/bar was really fascinating. Well worth the stop.
