“Eat and Drink where G. Washington Ate and Drank”

The historic significance should be enough to bring everyone to this bar, restaurant, or museum. It was so cool knowing the history that occurred there while you are relaxing and eating your favorite English dishes. We had the cheese plate to start, and a lot of times, these are lacking. This one was excellent. Good choice cheeses and fruits with a great presentation. For entree we had GW's favorite pot pie and bangers and mash. All I can say is, WOW! The pot pie was amazing! The bangers could have been a little hotter when they arrived, but that is the only complaint.

“Fantastic!”
Reviewed January 4, 2013 via mobile

This was a highlight of my visit to NY. A visit to the museum was facinating and the awe of what took place in this special place is truely something. The food was fantastic, especially given the price point. I had the shepards pie and my son had the chicken, and we shared entrees. Both were delicious. The atmosphere is to die for. If you dont love this, you just arent American.

“Beer Selection is Outstanding!”
Reviewed December 22, 2012

Dark, moody restaurant/bar with a super laid back vibe. Huge, almost overwhelming beer selection from multiple countries, breweries, etc. Tons of craft beers available, whiskey and beer flights if you can't decide on just one. Ordered steak sandwich, which was HUGE. Thought it would be your typical shaved steak with grilled onions and cheez whiz type sauce. NOPE! It was a beyond version of a steak sandwich on a perfectly toasted baguette, large slices of steak, sharp cheddar cheese melted on with a combo of raw red and grilled onions. Fries were bananas good. Meal could have definitely been shared with another person, it was plenty of food. On a hard cider kick so that was my drink of choice for the evening, it was awesome. Decor was my favorite part - benches were draped with faux cow print, tables were vintage Singer sewing machine desks. Glass cabinets abound with different beer bottles. Very dim lighting, but the glow of all the candles on the tables bounced off the glass cabinets and made it very romantic. Would visit again, seemed like many people have their birthday/anniversary parties there, as there were large groups everywhere! Overall great food and awesome ambience.

“Surprisingly good”

The menu was limited overall for GF but they were great. Super house red wine and the roast chicken was really amazing. My husband loved his whiskey flight. Fun and historic.

“Fraunces Tavern Restaurant”
Reviewed October 28, 2012

Historical Tavern in the Wall Street Area. Recommended to us by several locals and we were not disappointed. After entering the doors, you felt like you were taking a step back in time. The Tavern is best known as the site where Washington gave his farewell address to the officers of the Continental Army in 1783. Food was great....I enjoyed the chicken pot pie which George Washington's favorite. Would definitely recommend if you want a unique dining experience in NYC.
