Went to Katz today with family to try the pastrami, but saw a big tour bus parked outside and knew there would be a line. Sure enough, the line was 40+ people deep. We walked back to the car deflated and noticed Congee Village. I love congee, so, it was not a difficult decision to try this place.
We were starved and ordered away unaware of the generous portions. For the four of us (adults), we ordered (please don't judge us for pigging out): chicken and abalone congee, XO rice noodles, Singapore noodles, seafood chow fun, soy sauce noodles, soup buns, dumplings and garlic baby bok choy. The waiter was a little surprised by the amount of food we ordered, but I reassured him that we will be fine. The soup buns and dumpling skin were thicker than we liked. We will not order again. Everything else was delicious!!!
Go there the next time you are in town. The great food at this place definitely made up for not being able to eat at Katz.
Oh, on case you are wondering, we had lots if leftovers. All this food cost is $68 with tax and tips!!!
