“A Tradition Not to be Missed”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed January 7, 2014

A step back in time. Don't get waiter service, but wait in a sandwich line. Watching the pastrami get sliced, being given a huge slice to taste, getting the plate of sour pickles (and don't forget the sour tomatoes ) is an experience from old NYC. You are given a ticket when you walk in. That is where your purchases are listed. Even if you don't have a purchase you need the ticket to leave!
Sandwiches are NY HUGE, knoblewurst (a type of hot dog) is a treat. Don't forget the corned beef, too. A NYC must!!! And I grew up in NYC and find this a treat.

“Just once”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed January 7, 2014 via mobile

This is a large busy place with two ways to get food. On the right you get your own on the left is waiter service. They have all the usual. I had matzoh ball soup (an enormous matzoh ball) corned beef sandwich on rye and a DR Browns creamed soda. Soup great sandwich average at best. Go there for the history and some fun not for the food. You get a ticket when you enter don't loose it they charge you a lot if you do

“this is one place not to miss in america”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed January 7, 2014

there is only one Katz in the world! do not miss it. of course you have to come to New York. I know some people who come to New york just to eat ONE sandwish..either corn beer of pastrami at Katz. you can even share with another person..but take an hot dog just before! and be adventurous...go to the counter but sometimes you really have to push all the fans of this restaurant happening day and night. REALLY the best corn beer and pastrami in the world. Different then schwartz in Montreal! and the place is a movie set!

“Sometimes only Katz will do.”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed January 7, 2014

Some restaurants you have decided what you will order before you arrive. Corned beef or pastrami or knobluch (sic) sausage on fresh rye, mustard and/or half sour pickles. If you don' know, don't go. If you know, it is the bestest freshest in town, and by town, we mean NYC. Enjoy.
