Love the atmosphere...the mix of the wall murals, low lighting, classic jazz playing, and cozy booths make for a delightful setting reminiscent of bygone days. Excellent, accomodating service (our waiter brought out a tray of eyeglasses out for my use b/c I had forgotten mine...nice touch!) but not in your face. The food was very good, the lobster bisque and crab cake appetizers were outstanding, would've preferred a choice of sides for the sirloin (it came with fries, but I could've probably asked to substitute) but the steak was cooked perfectly and was delicious. Nice wine list.
Only reason I didn't give 5 stars is for the complicated reservation system (you have to not only make a reservation but call again within 24 hours of your arrival to confirm), which we did and would've been fine except the restaurant was surprisingly more than half empty the entire time we were there, on a Saturday night. Oh well...I will happily reserve again and visit next time I am in NYC...it's a gem of a place with delightful character.
