A friend recommended Tau to me so decided to try it on my last visit to New York. The décor is amazing! The rock music a little too loud but you could still hear everyone at the table which was good. The menu was great and everyone agreed the food was very good! Service was very good - almost too good, however. We had not decided on our main courses when the waiter first came to take our order, so we only ordered the appetizers which came within 5 minutes, I think. We then placed the order for the mains which came, again, at lightning speed. Everything was hot and fresh but it seemed a bit too rushed. We were a late booking so we didn't have to worry about them flipping the table so not sure why it was so quick. Still, I would go again. A great dining experience.

Went there on a week day night for a friends birthday. Great decor, wish the service and food matched it.

Great experience at Tao. We have been told by friends this is a must stop when in NY. They were absolutely correct. The food and atmosphere was top quality. Prices were reasonable. The best part of the night was the staff and customer service. They were friendly, knowledgeable and efficient. The hostess Samantha was a pleasure to deal with when there was some minor confusion with our reservation. Will stop back again.

Tao has been around for a long time. I have been there many times over the years. It was once "the" place to go for dinner if you were cool. However, I have noticed that they seem to be getting further away from providing excellent customer service and moving towards turning tables in order to maximize revenue. The wait staff can be friendly but sometimes you com across someone who seems to be annoyed that they have to serve you. On one occasion when I was there with friends after work, we ad finished dinner and desert and were talking. The waiter brought the check and started to hover at the table. Then the manager showed up and asked if we can wrap it up. We told them we were still talking and finishing our drinks. To my surprise he didn't seem to care. So we left. Too bad we had already provided the tip. There food continues to be interesting though.

This is another of the great New York restaurants that give guests the opportunity to eat there at a reasonable price.
They have a $27.50 3 course set price lunch.
There was so much to eat it couldn't possibly have only cost $27.50, but it did.
This is an amazing room. The decor is magnificent. How did they get that massive buddha in there?
Service was quick and effective.
Food was outstanding.
Three full size courses - no reduced portions because it's set price lunch.
And plenty to chose from - again, no lack of choice because it's set price lunch.
We could hardly move the food was so filling. But also so tasty.
Thank you Tao.
Absolutely recommended.
