If you eat meat, go to this restaurant - else stop reading now. The steaks are great, but the pork shank (I think it actually be a leg and have had it 5+X ) is not to be believed. It is also about a 3-4 pound dish w/ the bone. It is slow cooked, so like butter, & they cook it just right at high-heat to finish so dripping with lovely crackling and juices. OMG, my mouth is watering now. They also have a great bar, right in the lower middle of the place, which makes for a dramatic scene (nothing crazy!) eye-wise when looking around and up & down between the two floors. I'm pretty certain that on a visit with family on a weekend, I had a martini and it was super-nice too.

We dined here on our first evening in New York and it was excellent.

We were shown to a booth table (got to love a booth table) and offered both the a la carte menu and the Restaurant Week menu. We opted for the latter - three courses for $38 was too good to pass up.

We ordered cocktails and were brought warm pretzel bread sticks and garlic and shallot butter. Delicious.

To start, we had the crab cake and the sunchoke and chestnut soup. Both choices were divine (the crab cake was a generous size too).

For mains, we had the chicken under a brick (very good) and the filet steak (tasty). We ordered sides separately - mash and asparagus - and these were not cheap at $12/13 dollars, but they were family style and so could be shared by the table. The mash was particularly good and generously portioned as we were not able to finish it.

We finished with two ices - the blood orange creamsicle and the salted caramel. Both good and again a portion suited to those with a larger appetite.

We washed it down with two good glasses of wine, and then finished with a huge whisky. We left very happy, very full and wanting to come back again.

Service was terrific. We were really well looked after by all the wait staff and our main server, Deven, was polite, charming and made us feel so welcome on our first night in New York.

We'll want to head back to this elegant and stylish restaurant on our next trip. Loved it.

My Wife and I eat here fairly often when we are in Manhattan. We can always depend on having a wonderful, relaxed dinner. The food and drink is excellent. The staff is helpful, friendly and professional. In all the years we have been going there we have never been disappointed.

but not among the very best. Great steaks, seafood but staff and ambience not up to snuff with the tops. A little touristy and many a business dinner. Sufficiently good for the money.

We ordered the crab cakes, filet mignon, five leaf house salad, and Icelandic cod. For dessert we ordered blood orange creamsicle ice cream with amoretti cookie and salted toffee pudding with creme fraiche chantilly. The crab cake was large and flavorful. The salad was plentiful and fresh. The steaks were cooked to order, flavorful and accompanied by a good tasting steak sauce. The cod comes over a potato clam chowder with bacon. I do not eat clams or bacon. I sent it back. All ingredients should be listed especially if one does not eat bacon or clams.
