The food here is truly superb. Love the flash fried okra, jackfruit biriyani and tandoori lamb. The chaat is also great. Have never been disappointed on the food front here and have been coming ever since they opened.

Forget the fact that it's cramped and an awkward space. Also, this past week a waiter said he needed the table back which was a first and we weren't exactly dragging our feet. But aside from this kind of occasional glitch, it's a place to come back to again and again.

we tried Amma after reading the reviews on Tripadvisor and thankfully made a reservation since it was packed Saturday night. The place is small and some of the tables are placed in rather awkward places that i would not want to sit (on the way tot he kitchen) so make sure that you request a nicely situated table. Also would have been nice to have my water glass refilled periodically since the food was quite spicy rather than have to keep looking for a waiter to ask for this. The food was good-make sure to try the fried okra.

You will love this place, especially if like us, you were craving lassi, good curry, spicy food but with the difference being that its Goan not traditional Punjab fare. We had the bhel poori which was lovely, followed by the fish curry and garlic naan. The cold lassi was amazing. Didn't mind paying over $50 per head as this is more upmarket than other curry houses we saw in midtown NYC.

Great Indian restaurant in NYC, staff were very attentive, food arrived quickly and was delicious. Portions were a decent size and 2 starters was adequate to share between 3 of us.
