If I could I would have given this 4.5 out of 5 ... half-a-star taken out for the initial delay ! ...Three of us showed up w/o reservation for luncheon at 1:15 PM. We were told that it would be around 15 minutes wait. After 30 minutes and couple of arguments on the delay, we were seated at a nice table and enjoyed some excellent fresh and tasty food. Sardines, Octopus, Calamari were all "melt in your mouth" good. Service was efficient and warm. I would go back without any hesitation

The restaurant is in a great location and has huge potential. The food is good although I would not say excellent. Dinner started with having to ask twice for a wine list. Getting the wine after the order took another 20 minutes. Appetizers were good but no exceptional, ordered the Pulpo and a second appetizer and they were good. Main course I ordered one of the fish dishes with a side of Greek fries which they were out of so went with the bean and vegetable side which never did arrive. The fish was okay but not great, everybody else said their food was good but nothing special.

The waiter then came over and offered dessert menus which we wanted to see and told us his shift was over but that someone would bring them over we asked twice more but never saw a dessert menu, so then we asked twice for the bill and never got that until we went to the front desk to request it.

We will not be going back.

Great, fresh food! A bit lacking on the service. Lovely atmosphere. Beautiful display of fresh seafood and vegetables. A bit loud but, otherwise love this restaurant.

We dined at Avra on June 28, 2014. I made our reservations on opentable for 5:30 pm, for a party of 5. We arrived on time. The restaurant was very empty, including the outdoor dining tables. We asked to be seated outside, the hostess looked at her computer for a few moments then told us the tables outside were for parties of 4 only. We didn't question it. At the same moment a manager type turned around and told us it was the 'law' since 'technically' the tables were in a public park. Huh? Anyway, Our food was quite good, well prepared. The waiter service was decent, not amazing. The bad experience was when we left, there was a party of 6 seated at an outdoor table. We were outraged. My husband approached the gentleman that told us it was 'the law' that only 4 could be seated at a table outside. He replied that he 'didn't know' what was going on when we asked to be seated outside, he was just telling us about the law. Nice. I took a photo of those lucky 6 who got to sit outside. Won't be dining here again.
