“Luxury at its highest”
Reviewed February 14, 2013

My wife and I went there for brunch during a recent visit to NYC. The place was quiet at first, but got a little crowd after a bit. The caviar selection is excellent. Thebrunch items were prepared and presented to perfection

“Seriously?”
Reviewed January 27, 2013 via mobile

While I can't fault the food -- everything was delicious -- or the staff -- the service was attentive -- our reservation meant nothing. We waited at least 30 minutes. And the atmosphere was very much like a diner. WAY over lighted, very noisy, and decidedly bland in decor. I found myself wondering if I'd stumbled into The Twilight Zone, as the restaurant offered NONE of the appeal mentioned by other reviewers. Perhaps this is what passes for elegance in some parts, but in NYC?? Seriously??? In a town with so many outstanding and truly special places to eat, I honestly can't say anything was at all special or outstanding about this one.

“Nice Evening”
Reviewed January 17, 2013

This is a beautiful restaurant inside a really stunning building. The smoked salmons starter and smoked sturgeon starter was delicious. Our main course was pink snapper but it was on top of a very fishy oyster that tasted slightly burnt and left a bitter taste in our mouths, very unappetizing. The sauce was nondescript with tiny veggies chopped into it but they tasted like they were in the fridge for a while rather than fresh. But it was okay. The fish was cooked perfectly. The bread and dessert was outstanding, definitely worth a visit to their bakery. We enjoyed the meal and would definitely return. The service was excellent.

“Lovely Food, and Reasonable Prices”
Reviewed January 14, 2013

Had their lunch set menu for $29 and what outstanding value. Great food, and the caviar is available for a supplement. Was at this restaurant 12 years ago and it was just as good now as it was then.
If you love caviar it's a must! But great seafood as well, and well-priced.

“dissapointed”
Reviewed December 22, 2012

My husband and I had been to Petrossian a few times before. I had remembered the experiences being special, elegant, superior. Tonight the ambiance was the same, beautiful, subdued, frence, museum quality art, great service. Food - only the caviar and caviar service stood out. My pan sauteed foie gras was over cooked and for $47 my portion was 2in diameter circle, seved with a fig preserve that had much to be desired. I am very particular about ordering scallops. I am almost always dissapointed. I took a chance, diver scallops on the menu at Petrossian, they must be spectacular. Sorry, they were not, they were properly cooked, but who could get past the taste of iodine. My husband ordered the Seared West Coast Sturgeon, it was excellent, accompanied with shiitake mushrooms and ricotta gnocchi. The malbec wine by the glass was oaky which is fine, but it had no body or dimension. The Coffee Caramel mouse desert was un eventful. For $500 I expect more. We will only go back in the future if they have a new chef. For now it's Le Cirque for the best foie gras.
