“Dining with finesse”
Reviewed October 6, 2010

Per Se is one of North America's best restaurants! Yes, the price is steep, but you will find many surprises before, during, and after your 9-course meal. This is like dining with theatre! Only, the food is the star here! And rightly so, as each course was absolutely sublime and bursting with robust flavours. We especially loved Oyster and Pearls and their Florida Cobia dish that day, although almost all the dishes were a hit (with very minor deficiencies here and there that were negligible anyway). However, the overall experience was an excellent one!!

During our lunch, I asked my husband if he would rather watch a big sports event (and he's a huge sports guy) or dine at Per Se knowing what he knows now, his answer was "dine at Per Se!"

We enjoyed our 2.5-hour lunch here, and we would like to thank the wonderful staff at Per Se for being so welcoming and accommodating. We found their service (and the whole experience, for that matter) to be impeccable and unpretentious. Honestly, we've dined at other lesser-quality restaurants with hosts or servers who were needlessly high-nosed - and we don't like that! We prefer a friendlier, more casual, but still professional atmosphere - and with that, Per Se delivers!

I highly recommend Per Se at least once in a person's lifetime. This is fine dining elevated to an art form!

5 stars for value--didn't think I'd ever rate a $700+ meal as such but that's how unbelievable our experience was. Impeccable service, amazing meal. My husband is more of a "meat and potatoes" type who usually scoffs at the fancy presentations on large plates but even he was blown away. The only downside is that we were so satiated, we couldn't enjoy the dessert that just kept coming. To completely understate how we felt, this is dining at its finest.

We recently went on a restarant tour of New York, Chicago, Las Vegas and San Francisco. We ate out at as many top restaurants as we could fit into 3 weeks (and secure reservations for!). This was our favourite by far. The service, food, atmosphere - everything was flawless. We had an amazing time, and if we ever manage to get another reservation we will definitely go back - it's well worth the money. My only gripe is that we had a reservation for 21:30, which meant that we didn't leave until almost 1am and were exhausted! But it was worth it for such a wonderful experience.

“Exquisite Quality of Food, Perfect Instrument to Handle Your Dining Partner”
Reviewed August 12, 2010

This place is set up to impress (in all possible ways - from total charming up to complete intimidation) your dining partner, and it serves this purpose very well by entourage and price combination. As of the food, it's wonderful... In my opinion it comes mostly from the exquisite freshness and quality of the produce, but not from the chef's skills or kitchen staff's efforts.

“Wonderful Experience and TOTALLY worth it!”
Reviewed August 3, 2010

We have always wanted to go to a Thomas Keller restaurant, and although we couldn't get reservations in the main dining room (call about 2 months in advance), we had a wonderful experience in the salon. They sat us at a table with an iconic view of NYC - you could not ask for a better view. The wine was amazing and the food made us want to plan 2 months in advance to come back for the 9-course Chef's tasting. They gave us several "bites" while we waited for our food, including: a delicious salmon, something with gruyere cheese, a delicious chilled soup, some AMAZING truffle popcorn, slow roasted peanuts, and bread. Totally more than we were expecting. Then our food came, and although they do give you a small amount, it was perfect. For dessert, our waiter Jonathan said he was just going to send some things out, and he certainly did. We had something strawberry, something chocolate, truffles, some lemon and blueberry little cookies (I have no idea what they are called), and some butterscotch candies. AND when we left, they gave us 2 packs of chocolate filled cookie sandwiches. Oh, and Jonathan graciously gave us some champagne to celebrate our last night in NYC, The service was the best I'd ever experienced - better than Daniel for sure. This place is worth the money and we will be planning on the 9 course tasting next time we are in NYC.
