The wonderful dining experience begins when you sit down at the table and your waiter/waitress brings you a hot washcloth to freshen up. The lights are dim and a single candle is on each table, adding to a pleasant relaxing atmosphere.
The sushi is very fresh and is prepared by chefs that obviously know what they are doing. At $49 the sushi and sashimi for two is a very reasonable price and is wonderfully arranged on a boat that allows two people to share and sample a wide range of pieces. A meal of this type would easily be a lot more, especially in New York. The grilled salmon special roll is very nice and you can't go wrong with any of the appetizers either.
The dessert menu was nothing special, which didn't bother us because we were already too full to worry about ordering anything sweet at the end. If you are looking for a great place to unwind in the midst of a busy city, Sushiya will not disappoint.
