A great place in NYC for a conversation friendly dinner on a saturday night. Service very attentive, table seating spacious and comfortable Menu comprised of french classics and a few specialites. Drink menu original and a good way to start the evening. Went 2 different saturday evenings and it did not disapoint.

As bad as a Mexican resort 2 star hotel Buffet.
Items on menu are not served & quality of dishes is below terrible. Most items are not replenished so if you come late you have little choice.
Manger was apologetic with a feeble excuses saying some food carts tumbled on the floor.

I went to Brasserie81/2 for restaurant week dinner with my friends. The food was pretty good, but service was extremely slow and bad. We waited an hour for our waiter to take our order, and another 25 min for appetizers to arrive. The restaurant was half empty, it was Tuesday evening and there is no explanation why it took so long to get food. The waiter didn’t make any recommendations and looked like he didn’t care at all. It is nice to eat a delicious dinner, but bad service spoiled our dining experience and we will not go back there and wouldn’t recommend this place, unless you don’t mind waiting 1,5 hour for you food to arrive.

We were attracted by a promotion of small plates + cocktail for $17.89 in the run-up to Bastille Day. Two of us had expected to share three small plates, but that was not allowed according to our obsequious waitress. So I had a terrific coq au vin which had Chanterelles in it much to my surprise and, other than being salty, was excellent. My companion had the short ribs; also excellent. The half bottle of Crozes Hermitage (Guigal) was a terrific accompaniment. We've been here a number of times and will return. The store has a $38 prix-fixe menu with a $22 additional if one wants a flight of nice wines with it, apparently all the time, so Restaurant Week is not the only time to try this restaurant out (though the RW menu is a bit larger).

This beautiful restaurant makes it feel like you're celebrating something even when you're not. Although there is a lovely $39 prix fix dinner, the regular menu offers many delicious choices. Their Seafood Tower that feeds 2-3 people is fantastic as are the Mussels with Frites and a perfect Bronzino. If you are in luck you will have Scott as your waiter who will add to your perfect evening.
