Caviar Russe is unique and that is no mean feat in NYC. This was our first time at the restaurant, and we were surprised by the size of the place (a small L of a dining room, the Friday night we were there four other parties were having dinner and the room could fit only 2-3 more but that was perfectly fine as it gave a nice intimate feel to the place). The menu is flexible -- you can order only caviar, only raw fish or a 3, 5 or 10 course tasting menu or all of the above or a la carte etc. We decided on a sampler of caviar (fabulous, with home made blinis!) and then the three course menu; I could not finish my dessert. The food is expensive, but you get what you pay for in this case. The wine, on the other hand, was quite reasonably priced for NYC restaurants. Another standout is the service -- Armando in particular is the perfect maitre d'. We'll be back.
