Looking for Halal in NYC. Avoid this joint. Yes, the prices are extraordinary, but they serve less than you give your loving canine friend. Lamb stew was a large ladle of brown water with a single bone floating in it..Microwaved rice was tasty, tandoori chicken dry and tasteless. Halal is served with opulence all around NYC now. Anywhere but here.

I eat lunch here a couple times a week. Go downstairs for the buffet. You can eat as much as you want for ten dollars. There's a big selection of meat and veggy dishes, good naan, salad and rice. The place attracts a pretty diverse clientele - lots of taxi drivers but also people who work in the neighborhood. The owner is a nice guy too although he is usually upstairs.

Best meal we had in New York City and $14 for two people! There was so much that we didn't finish it all.

We had sheik kebabs, and the meat platter. The platter was $7.99 and included two meat dishes one one veg dish (which the customer chooses from those on display), rice, a tandoori naan, salad and raita. Best value meal I've ever had any where. It was also the best Asian meal I've ever had in a restaurant and I've been to India and Pakistan!

The lady serving us was very nice. The decor isn't great but we saw a couple come in and a party of friends. But perhaps not the the place to take someone you want to impress - ie/first date. Shame as the food is fit to serve in a palace.

All the cutlery and plates are plastic and there are free jugs of cold tap water at the side of the main counter you can help yourself to.

This place should not be so low in the NYC restaurant rankings.

The food is awesome. Huge portions and modest prices. But the ambiance is non-existent and the service can be very very trying.
