Our waiter didn't seem to have the time for us and was not very friendly to say the least.

The food, however, was incredible. Steak was cooked just righy with excellent flavor - the girls ordered sea bass and salmon - they both said the seafood was great as well.

I would not recommend this based on the service however. If I'm going to spend $100+ for two, i expect to be treated really well.

Dropped in yesterday as it started snowing and we were around corner at lunchtime. Several waiters encouraged us to order the porterhouse for two for $93 which was too much food for lunch. We settled on two mixed green salads and a shared sirloin with spinach and German fried potatoes. The steak was delicious and cooked perfectly. It was more than enough food. The service is generally very good and while food is always good, we find dinner at this location deafening.

This place is not cheap but worth a night out. I would recommend that you ask the waiter to estimate the portions required because the steak portions are large and usually family style is the best way to go.

This is a super male environment with lots of power suiting / gazing, steaks and bloody mary's. Nothing entirely over the top, though, if you are a woman seeking a business lunch spot. Do be advised that the entire place - maitre d, waitstaff, and bartenders - takes its cues from the men in your party - so power up to the maitre d and let him know its your show if you need the staff to focus on you as the leader of a luncheon meeting. The key to success here is that that same male -oriented service is solid / old school and the food delivers. Be warned: the food is heavy - even the fish - so ask if you need something cooked on the lighter side. Also - Its not quiet, and it can be impossible to hear your companions when its very crowded. Ask the maitre d to seat you appropriately. I find its easier to have a quick lunch at the bar when I need to discuss important business efficiently. The bartender is usually nice, professional company if you want to dine alone and not in silence.

We visited Wolfgang's after it was recommended by our concierge but they were fully booked out so we made a reservation for the following night. The lady was very rude when we made the booking and we weren't sure whether we'd go back but I'm so glad we did! Although they claimed not to have our booking when we returned the next night that was the worst of our experience at Wolfgang's.

We were seated immediately and served by a very attentive waiter who quickly bought us breads and drinks. As we looked through the menu a man from the next table lent over to tell us 'enjoy, it's an event' and he was right!

We ordered the steak for two with sides of mash potato, asparagus and onion rings and from the moment the food came out we couldn't believe it! It was by far the best meal we've had in New York and although we were stuffed we just couldn't stop eating! Whilst pretty pricey (we paid over $200 without wine) it is very much worth it and we would go again if we had more time in NY.

The service, the food and the atmosphere made this our favourite meal on our three week honeymoon - definitely make a reservation here.
