Well done. Food you know and love. Nothing too fancy, but that's the idea. All food was well prepared, service was top notch. Very much enjoyed the evening.

Not cheap - more focused on expense account customers.

“Distinctly average at best”
Reviewed September 24, 2012

My partner and I visited Rossini's restaurant during our recent trip to New York. We both had a portion of the calamari fritti to begin which was sizeable in quantity but certainly not memorable in taste. At 16 dollars per portion, we felt this was severely overpriced especially given the fact it was largely tasteless. I had the spaghetti carbonara for main course which also was below average and extremely oily and therefore not enjoyable. My partner had an equally disappointing main course. Although the service is good in the restaurant and it is obviously a popular restaurant (having been in business for a good number of years and was busy enough on a Tuesday evening when we were there), this was our most disappointing meal during our week long stay in NYC. There are much better places to visit. I was also shocked that what seemed to be a highly recommended Italian restaurant in New York was inferior in quality to the standard of food served at our local Italian in Belfast, Northern Ireland (namely Il Pirata)!

“Like a classic movie set!”
Reviewed September 19, 2012

We walked in here after an event at the Morgan Library and Museum and we were glad we did! It is a New York Italian classic. Everything felt exactly like a New York Italian place should be. Great story-upon entering we were welcomed by a host/maitre D who was immediately told by a 'guy' sitting at the little table at the end of the bar wearing a suit with the napkin tucked in to his neck eating a plate of pasta exactly what table we should be taken to. I immediately smiled-exactly as I imagined. I half expected to see the cast of a Scorsese film sitting at a table.
The dining room was old school in every way. The classic piano player with all the great Frank and Dean tunes. The proper attired wait staff. The service was great. Friendly. Never rushed, never waiting for anything. The food was excellent-there were 4 of us and we all enjoyed our different meals. The wine was nice. Place was classy without being over the top or stuffy. The prices are not cheap, but not outrageous-especially for a nice place in Manhattan. 4 meals and wine=$200. I would visit here again! Most memorable dining experience of my 6 days in NYC.

“Step Back in Time”
Reviewed September 17, 2012

Rossini's is out of another era that was gentler and slower. The atmosphere is unhurried as is the service. The ambiance along with the wonderful piano music was peaceful. The food is excellent. We were given a lovely table that was somewhat off to the side to enjoy the experience. My veal medallions in a light tomato sauce with fresh roasted vegetables was outstanding. My husband's veal chop was crisp and tasty and not at all tough. The wine our waiter suggested from Sardinia was rich and flavorful. This is a special restaurant in a lovely part of Manhatten. It's for that special occasion that's to be savored.

“Italian the way it should be!”
Reviewed August 11, 2012

Rossini's was a thoroughly enjoyable dining experience. We popped in on a whim for lunch and didn't know what to expect since you can't see much from the outside entrance. Once we got inside we walked through a foyer lined with a large and eclectic array of pics of the celebs that have dined there, including J Lo, Sophia Loren and multiple Sopranos cast members. Once inside the place is buzzing and the smell of deliciousness permeates the air. Lots of local business folks were having lunch, but the inside was roomy and accomodating, so we were seated promptly. The service was wonderfully attentive from beginning to end. Rossini's offers an old school italian feel with the waiters in tuxes and the quintessential italian restaurant decor inside. The other customers were dressed up and dressed down, but you'll feel comfortable no matter what your attire. The food was very good and the chatter in the room was lively. I am looking forward to dining here again.
