Description: House of Lasagna, a midtown institution, has been delighting local business people, residents and visitors for almost 40 years. All of our Lasagnas are hand-made, from the traditional Lasagna alla Bolognese, to more the more contemporary "Lasagna of the Day" made with organic and local farm-to-table ingredients. Reservations for small groups are not required. Service is friendly and efficient and waiting time for tables is generally very brief. Plus, our pricing is always friendly! Yes, of course our 20 minute express lunch is $11.50 And Martinis & Manhattans are $8 all day!

I drove by in a cab the other day and read the sign "best Lasagna of NYC" - gave it a try today. Service was fast, inexpensive and adequate. The best of NYC? ...Perhaps. But if you ever had Lasagna in Italy... there is potential for improvement. Lasagna was a bit dry, and could be better spiced. The speed with which food was served, lets me dought that is was prepared fresh... rather re-heated. But maybe this is what the busy business patrons on Lexington demand. - Including salad, glas of wine and tip $25. - Folks, elsewhere in Manhattan, thats what you spend when Valet parks your car. - Therefore good price/value ratio, but not comparable to the culinary institutions of italian cuisine ;)

In defense of this restraunt, the person who booked us there should NEVER have chosen a very Italian place for Thanksgiving. We were a fairly large group of about 24. The room was appropriatly set and very nice. We were told too get our own drinks at the bar because the waiter were too busy. "WHAT".? No salad was served, It was suppose to be. We got corn chowder and a roll instead. Then the dinner.....2 very thin slices of turkey, about 1 tabs of mashed potatoe and 1 tabs.dressing. The veg. were succatash and creamed spinach. UGH.There was no taste to anything.
I'm sure they cut the pie with a magnifying glass, because you needed one to see it. The look on companions face was priceless.

Went for a quick lunch. Lasagna with egg plant and ricotta. Dry not very good. Fresh small salad to start. $13 without drinks. Would not come again.

Looking for somewhere to relax after a hard days walking we 'fell' into Fagiolini on 40th. Fabulous, welcoming, great value place. We returned......to sit at the bar, enjoy the salad and pasta and some lovely wines. All just 2 blocks from our hotel.
If you want fine dining and pretentious food then this is not the place for you. Just simple, well cooked and tasty meals that offer true value in a lovely environment. Well be back one day!
