Description: Keens Steakhouse, a classic New York chophouse, was already famous for its steaks and chops at the turn of the century. Founded in 1885, Keens has 90,000 clay pipes that line the ceilings – pipes once smoked by customers after dinner. Today Keens legendary mutton chops and dry aged prime steaks are still without equal in the city.

“Great Dinner”
Reviewed February 6, 2013

Went to Keens on Saturday 2/2 Before the Knicks game. 5pm reservation for 6 turn into a table for 7. No problems at all. The host and staff were cheerful and willing to make everything right. The waitstaff does an impeccable job. We had 5 adults and two children, and everyone left happy. The kids has a 12oz Filet that the kitchen split for them and they cleaned their plates. 3 opted for the chicken which they loved, my friends Richard and Adam had steaks which were cooked perfectly and I went for the big daddy, the Mutton Chop which is an experience all to itself. If you do not venture to Keens for the Mutton Chop sometime in your life you are missing out one of the great ones! Next time in the city try Keens.

“Perfect Steakhouse for a family in NY”
Reviewed February 4, 2013

Went to Keens without a reservation with our kids thinking that by going early after our shopping trip in town we would get a table, well we did BUT by pure luck... We had a fantastick Porterhouse Steak that serverd all four of us. Cooked to perfection with very attentive service... The ceiling is decorated with 50,000 pipes and even the kids were amazed with the special pipes on display by the cloakroom. Service was very friendly and our waiter was a gem. Thank you to Keens making one of our dinners in NY an unforgettable one.

“Very expensive... But not spectacular...”
Reviewed February 4, 2013 via mobile

Staff was welcoming and nice. Meal was nice, but I was not blown away like I wanted to be! It was nice to try the restaurant, but I'll save my money for Smith & Wollensky, Ruth's Chris, or Capital Grille.

Thank Bowfinn

“Great food and atmosphere”
Reviewed February 2, 2013 via mobile

Went here for my 40th birthday meal after seeing reviews on trip adviser, and we were not disappointed.

Food, atmosphere and decor were great. We both had ribeye steaks which were cooked to perfection. The various servers/waiters were very attentive without being overbearing.

Two minus points were that the tables for two are VERY close together - barely 8" apart which meant the table had to be moved to let one of us out and didn't give much privacy. The service was also quick enough to give the impression of getting you in and out as quickly as possible.

Despite the minus points, we would go again!
