“Food just average and service was terrible”
Reviewed June 8, 2012

We only saw our server twice. Once to take our drinks and food orders and then she disappeared. A couple that was waiting to place an order next to us left in disgust. The waitress that was "supposed" to be serving them came by about 5 minutes after they left and was miffed that they had upped and left. This review is based on just a lunch visit but I will likely never go back there other than for a drink at the bar which looks like a nice setup. Food was OK though so not a complete loss and we were lucky it came out in a reasonable time. Beer was expensive regular price for a draft but not a full pint.

“A slice of the real New York!”
Reviewed May 22, 2012

I was staying at a pretentious hotel nearby and had spent days eating in equally pretentious restaurants, so it was good to find a pub! Sports screens, loud music, people enjoying themselves, more food on my plate than 1 normal person can eat, decent draft beer and all at a reasonable price. Unstuffy, friendly and full of 'real' people. A little gem!

“It's all about the Sheppards Pie”
Reviewed April 19, 2012 via mobile

Tucked a little out of the way, but a nice find. It seems to be caught between an Irish pud and your everyday bar. But the food was great. We had a burger and the shep pie.

“Good Food....Poor Service...Expensive....Bar with an afterthought for a restuarant”
Reviewed February 19, 2012

We had the fish and chips, bangers and mash, and the shepards pie - each for $16-18 a plate. All pretty good as far as flavor. However, the wait staff never refilled any of our drinks, never the same person twice at the table. When we asked for a refill on a soda they charged us an additional $4 (however, they did tell us of the additional charge before they did give us the refill). Join the 21st century. If you are going to charge me $4 for a soda then at least offer free refills. Like the title says, good food but poor service. $120 got pub food with poor service is too much. Also, watch out for the "additional tip" line in the receipt. Bad form Old Castle. Go somewhere else.
