Description: 30 years ago, John Mahon and Eamonn Maher realized their dream. The goal was to create a pub with old-world charm and warmth near the heart of the big city. They wanted to create an up-scale pub that embraced its neighborhood roots. John and Eammon had a vision of intimate booths and secluded tables with the smell of mahogany permeating through the room.

“Waitress seemed bothered!”
Reviewed August 20, 2012 via mobile

Food was not that great - not good for a kid that wants a grilled cheese - just normal way please! Service was so slow and it was dead in there! Waitress seemed bothered, even when we asked for napkins as we never got them. Would not say this was a pub to go back to.

“Had a great evening!”
Reviewed July 29, 2012 via mobile

How can this place only have one review?

Me and my friend are in the hotel down the street from this place and decided to check it out as a way to finish off our evening. We wanted a drink and a light bite to eat.

Sat on the seats at the bar and were greeted by the Irish barman. One of the best cocktails I have ever had, strawberry daiquiri. I've had them before but never a fan until now. I hope to go back at some point this week. Even if it is just for a night cap.

We didn't order much food so we concentrated on bar snacks instead. They were fresh, delicious and came at a very reasonable price. Drinks served quickly and music playing in the background. Great atmosphere!

“Nice vibe but food wasn't impressive”
Reviewed June 6, 2012

This is a cute pub and people have a good time here for drinks. Perhaps some of the food on the menu is outstanding but I was disappointed. I ordered a Shepherd's Pie - which is an easy dish to make well. This was poor- nearly tasteless and it cost nearly $18 with no accompaniment. At $10 it would have been poor. The apple pie was nice but those two items with an average house wine set me back nearly $40 before the tip. That's ridiculous. Maybe you should go for a beer, then pass on the food.

“Best Bet: Stick with the Irish Fare”
Reviewed May 16, 2012

PJ Moran is an Irish bar in midtown with modest-size dining area in the back.

Best dining choices are the traditional Irish fare. Loved the fish and chips. There were several dinner specials with value prices.

Reservation for 8 was ready for us booked days earlier. Attentive, friendly service. And no automatic tip based on our group size--a good sign.

Good drink values, including wine by the bottle, considering midtown location. 8-10 beers on tap.

Very good rating based on who they are, and what you expect from an Irish Pub with restaurant.

Reviewed April 27, 2012

This review is being posted more than a month late but since the existing reviews are quite old, readers may find it worthwhile to read a more recent experience. Our family of 4 had dinner here on March 13, in the days leading up to St. Patrick's Day. The restaurant was decorated accordingly and we sat in the lovely booth pictured on their website.

We went for 2 reasons: first, it was nearby our hotel and second, the previous reviews looked encouraging. One daughter had a burger which was alright, another daughter had the angel hair pasta with chicken which she termed “good”. My seafood combo was very average and my husband's steak was unimpressive to say the least.

The server was charming and polite and her Irish accent was lovely to hear, of course. However, the nice service didn't make up for the disappointing food. Based on the reviews, we had hoped for much better so in our opinion, these restaurateurs need to pick up their game. The bill for 4 of us was $125 so it was not terribly expensive, but I would go elsewhere.
