An excellent prixe fixe dinner to celebrate a special occasion. The ambience with French music playing in the background. The food was delicious except for the desert which was somewhat lacking. Very attentive and accomodating wait staff. One did not feel rushed at all. It was a wonderful evening.

Always get an excellent meal here. The prix fixe menu at $39 is terrific. We have been coming for over 15 years. The Denamiels who own the restaurant are lovely people and the wait staff and especially Elvira are all charming and efficient. Favorite dishes are the trout almondine and the orange duck but everything is delicious. Charming, French country decor and a non-noisy atmosphere allows for enjoyable dining and conversation. When we come for pre-theater, they get us out in time without feeling rushed. And when it's a get-together with friends or family we linger and savor the evening. We have recommended Le Rivage to friends who visit New York and they all thank us for a wonderful recommendation.

We went to see a show and came into the city early to check out the places on Restaurant Row.
Found Le Rivage at the end of our walk and was impressed with the wide range of choices on the menu. The décor of the place was great too. We both wanted to try something different and the duck was the unanimous choice. It was crispy on the outside and moist inside, absolutely delicious. The lobster bisque was also excellent. Then came peach melba, what more can I say.
Our waitress was attentive and polite and we were served in a timely manner. Just a memorable dining experience.

We ate at Le Rivage before a show at Birdand. The staff is friendly and helpful. The food is fairly pedestrian. The marinated herring was clearly taken from a jar and a few onions shaved on top. The mussels were just OK. The entrees had been left under a heat lamp for so long that the server warned us repeatedly not to touch the plates. I had the softshell crab special, which was not very special. Not bad, just not very special. The bread pudding with creme anglais had been assembled hours before it made its way to our table, somewhat sad, soggy and lacking in creme. Although the 3 course prix fixe was only $39, considering the meal as a whole it was not that much of a bargain. There are too many good, moderately priced French restaurants in Manhattan to return.

This is traditional French cuisine from long ago.

Coquille St Jacque, Duck a l'orange, escargot, boeuf bourguignon, bisque a l'homard it's all there.

The food is surprisingly good representations of those classic French dishes.

The desert menu continues with the theme. Napoleon, Poire Helene you get the idea.

The wine mais oui is French and a fairly good representation at that.

The service is efficient and knowledgeable.

The pricing is outstanding for New York. Table d'hôte $35 pre show and $25 after 7:30.
