It has been a couple years since we last visitied, but we are glad we rerturned. We saw a Sunday theatre matinee and then wandered over to the restaurant district on 46th, nearby the theatre area. We remembered having enjoyed Le Rivage in the past; and as it was Mother's Day, we wanted to have an enjoyable dinner. We arrived shorly after the play ended and there was plenty of seating. In about 20 minutes, the restaurant had pretty much filled up. It is not a large place, but it is comfortable and cozy.
The restaurant has a rather extensive menu, that is set up for fixed price dinners - appetizer, entree, desert, and drink (non-alcoholic). They do have a bar and wine is reasonable. If you arrive prior to 3PM ot after 7:30PM the fixed price is $25. Between those times it is $39. We arrived around 6PM, and were ready to relax. For appetizers we had the baked mussels and pate. For entrees we enjoyed the poached salmon and the liver. The dishes were excellant. For desert we had the creme brulee and our coffee. The creme brulee was served at room temperature, and while I would have preferred it to be warmer, it was still good. The only downside was the bread / roll bowl could have been fresher and warmer. With two glasses of wine, our bill pre tip and tax was $99. Go earlier or later and it would have been $28 less. Should you be in the mood for a good French restaurant, we would recommend that you give it a try.

We had dinner at Le Rivage on a recent Saturday evening. It was just after the Pre-Threater rush. The $25 price fix dinner is a steal. You can select anything on the menu including specials of the day. Portions are generous and food was excellent. Everyone in our party made different choices for appetizer and main and we were all pleased. Atmosphere quiets down after 7:45 and we were able to sit and have a leisurely delicious meal. Great find!

We surprised my wife with dinner, after a 4 hour plane ride, on her birthday in New York. Le Rivage was exactly what we needed, with a warm family atmosphere that was not pretentious at all. Our two adult children thought it would be "Kitcschy" but they decided they liked an old fashioned little restaurant in a New York neighborhood too.
The staff even gave each of us a complimentary glass of desert wine to properly finish the birthday feast.
Well worth it!

Great before the theater. Small and quaint French Bistro. The menu is Pre Fixe and very reasonable with a wide selection and daily specials. Some of the specials are additional charge and not always stated by the waitress.

My wife and I had a wonderful meal last night at Le Rivage. After a day at the Met visiting the Impressionism, Fashion, and Modernity special exhibit, we were in the mood for some French food. We had seen reviews of this restaurant online and decided to try it out. We were not disappointed!

The outside appearance is unassuming, but as soon as you walk in the door, you immediately enter into a charming, welcoming, and cozy space. We were greeted warmly and seated right away although we did not have a reservation. Since it was nearly eight o'clock we were able to select our meal off of the fixed price menu, which includes appetizer, entree, dessert and coffee for $25.

We both had the tasty lobster bisque for a starter. For entrees I had the pork chop "Forestiere" and my wife had the Coquille, bay scallops, shrimp, mushrooms and onion in a cream sauce. Each was served with rice and vegetables. Both meals were superb! For dessert we were able to select from the full dessert menu. I had the New York cheesecake, my wife had the Poire Helene, and each was delicious.

Service was great! Our waitress was attentive, friendly, and very helpful in answering our questions about items on the menu. Le Rivage is a great value along Restaurant Row on 46th Street and a place that we will be sure to visit again.
