It has been a couple years since we last visitied, but we are glad we rerturned. We saw a Sunday theatre matinee and then wandered over to the restaurant district on 46th, nearby the theatre area. We remembered having enjoyed Le Rivage in the past; and as it was Mother's Day, we wanted to have an enjoyable dinner. We arrived shorly after the play ended and there was plenty of seating. In about 20 minutes, the restaurant had pretty much filled up. It is not a large place, but it is comfortable and cozy.
The restaurant has a rather extensive menu, that is set up for fixed price dinners - appetizer, entree, desert, and drink (non-alcoholic). They do have a bar and wine is reasonable. If you arrive prior to 3PM ot after 7:30PM the fixed price is $25. Between those times it is $39. We arrived around 6PM, and were ready to relax. For appetizers we had the baked mussels and pate. For entrees we enjoyed the poached salmon and the liver. The dishes were excellant. For desert we had the creme brulee and our coffee. The creme brulee was served at room temperature, and while I would have preferred it to be warmer, it was still good. The only downside was the bread / roll bowl could have been fresher and warmer. With two glasses of wine, our bill pre tip and tax was $99. Go earlier or later and it would have been $28 less. Should you be in the mood for a good French restaurant, we would recommend that you give it a try.
